We all get it from everyday life, and the things that we see and hear about. And just sometimes it encourages us to do things we wouldn't normally dream of.

Have you ever been inspired to do something crazy? If so, what? And what was your inspiration?

I have too much... not that I'm complaining. Following through is my problem.

My turn:

I've been hooked on a WW2 secret agent drama for the last couple of weeks. In the final episode everything goes wrong. An uprising against the Nazis in the south of France turns into a blood bath when the support promised by London doesn't arrive. It's the beginning of the end of the war in Europe. The Allies have already landed in Normandy and are in the process of liberating France.

A male British secret agent is captured during the uprising, and is destined to face the firing squad along with other individuals who've resisted the German regime.

The woman who loves him (also a secret agent) presents herself at the local Nazi HQ and asks to speak to the general in charge.

She's a beautiful woman, and his face lights up when she comes into the room. He asks her name, and she replies with absolute confidence:

"Well, I could I say I was Celeste, a school teacher from Normandy; or Collette, a businesswoman from Toulouse; or even Christine, a pharmacist from Lyon. Or I could just tell you that my name is Elizabeth Grainger, and for the past three years I've been working in France as a British spy. I'm also in love with Clement, the man you have locked up. I want you to let him go."

The general is gobsmacked by her audacity, but Clement ends up being released as a result of it.

I did a couple of audacious things yesterday, one of which has been instrumental in sending me to Career Siberia for a little while. It's kind of a house arrest. I've been stopped from having any contact with members of the public and given a mountain of computer projects to keep me out of mischief, pending further review.

Yesterday I was devastated. Today I'm a little less so. Regrets? I don't think I have any. I was true to myself and how I was feeling... and it was impossible not to be inspired by a scene like that.

I get inspired to write erotica by being sexually frustrated. I would really rather not write though. I am currently lacking any inspiration of any kind whatsoever at the moment though...

I'm not sure what inspires me on that front anymore :(

If I base it on reality it's always too close to home and too painful to write, and when I base it on nothing I start wondering what the point is.

Inspired to do something crazy? Yes.

Several years ago I started writing so I could feel I was on an equal level with the reprobates here. ;)

Inspiration is not a problem I have. If anything, I have too much inspiration.

Inspired by bullfighters and their bravery. Studied bullfighting for a short time and actually worked with a very strong, noble bull in the ring.

The first Lit-together in Chicago.

I won't confess what the original inspiration was for the thing - laughing - but once decided, I ran with it. So what if Chicago is 600 miles away from me? It did seem to be a good solid central place to meet.

Actually? You don't. ;)

But the gathering was a success, not just once but twice.

It's headed into gathering number three.

And the original inspiration behind it will remain hidden forever.

I know (not what you were thinking), I'm insanely jealous each time it comes around, there are so many who attend that I'd really like to meet.

When is it sketched for next year? If I can ever get these US Venture Capitalists to open their wallets, I will be in the US fairly frequently.

If you have signatures turned on you'll see it in my sig line.

We have actually already spoken with the hotel, same one as this year.

We've reserved a wing of the hotel, every room on both sides of the hall, on the first floor for easy access outside for smokers.

March 19-22, 2009

We've extended the event to include three nights: Thurs, Fri, Sat - like a real convention. (Some of us will still get in a day early.)

But Thursday through Sunday certainly makes more sense, especially for the people who are traveling huge distances.

It would be marvelous to meet you.

Cyber has inspired a few of my stories as well. Mostly under the 'Erotic Couplings' categories.

I had a few under 'Romance' but I sold those to a publisher. :D

Wheras in reality...

No, I won't go into it. I've barely regained my sense of humor as it is!

I'd LOVE to hear further details!

Now that is truly audacious. :rose::rose::rose:

I walked onto a Virgin Airlines plane, back in 1977, and off at Heathrow-- took the Tube to Victoria Station and got off at Gare de l'Est in Paris-- with a trunk and a copy of Berlitz' book of French phrases-- and saw snow for the first time in my life...

All of a sudden I feel spoiled. One of my earliest memories has snow in it, and I have seen it almost every year since.
