Does anybody use music to help you stay in the right mood when you're trying to write? Listening to Enya and the like seems to help me while I'm writing "Sweet Maggie". I have another novella going (unpublished) that is spurred by the blues.

Happy writing!

Absolutely. Music is a big part of writing for me. It definitely sets a mood and I always have it playing.

Yes, I use background music--but it's got to be in the background. I can't write to vocals or any sort of rock. I need the classics or that "Solitudes" or "Atmospheres" stuff you find in giftstores.

And I only use it for getting into a writing session. After a bit, you could have a military coup going on outside (which I've actually written to), and I'd be too zoned into the writing to know it's there.
