What are some common faults in a person? I am having a hard time coming up with some for my characters it could be one of your own weaknesses, or a percieved weakness in/ or by others.

Disorganized
Sloppy or messy
Overly picky
Forgetful
All work no play

Any of these work?

:)

Negative outlook. I mean looks at any and every thing in a negative manor.

Unwilling to decide between two choices.

Unwilling to confront others about their unacceptable actions.

Sees both sides of an argument and finds choosing awkward.

Carries too much baggage from the past. Cannot let go.

Too protective.

Overly dependent on parents or current partner.

Cannot handle own finances.

Addicted to shopping therapy.

Addicted to alcohol, drugs, cigarettes or inappropriate behaviours.

Snores.

Moody.
Neat freak.
Possessive.
Arguementive.
Chews too loudly.
Plays horrible music loudly.
Lazy.
Addicted to WOW.
Addicted to cellphones.
Boastful and prideful.
Indecisive.

What may be seen as a fault to one person may be excellent to another. (shrugs)

Impatience; overly talkative; the instant expert; hypochondria; allergies...

selfish
petty
cheap
passive aggressive
overly suspicious (paranoid flavor)
thoughtless
self-absorbed

Overly judgmental (that's me)

Short temper (not me)

Moody/stroppy (not me)

Irresponsible - blames everyone else for everything (not me)

Vain (maybe a little bit me)

Guilt tripper (not me)

Gossip column addict (definitely not me)

Naive

Lazy/ineffective

Seriously though - what's the character like? Age? Gender? Background? All those will make a difference to possible faults. Men are, perhaps, more likely to be short-tempered, women to be judgmental (just my opinion)...

Be careful with what you label. My sweetheart and I debate this all the time.

She's smarter than I am and much quicker to take action. I mull things over and act incrementally; I tend to give things a tidge more time to ripen. I annoy her but I usually get the outcome we both want.

Fictional characters with a flaw:

Sherlock Holmes: addicted to drugs.

Superman: vulnerable to Kryptonite.

Horatio Hornblower: Tone deaf and seasick at the start of a voyage.

Elizabeth Bennet - quick to judge/ prejudiced

Marianne Dashwood - Overly romantic & incautious

Emma - Arrogant & a busybody

Jane Austen had a nice line in main characters with a weakness...

Yes, every hero needs a flaw.

Achilles, couldn't resist a 6" stilletto.

W.T.Pooh, would sell grandmother for Hunny

oh my god , wonderful wonderful wonderful
Thank you for the input so far.
So im working on an incest idea and the mom

She's vain and and self absorbed, pushy, and arrogant and thinks she's percieved as an authority figure ( she's a college proffessor.) I just couldn't think of the words to fit her. Anyway, there is a family trip. She has a wonderful family, loving husband and two darling kids. She gets the idea in her head that she wants to have sex with her son.

How should it play out?

Son just accepts his mom's advances and be a little subbie to his mom ?

Or son manipulates his mom into think that she has control over him, Then BAM! He goes all Dominant on her?

Depends on the son's nature and his upbringing. Either he has been 'brainwashed' by his mother's arrogance and dominance and would be used to submitting to her will and being compliant *or* he would have a stronger nature than that, maybe inherited from her and there would be a struggle for dominance. Perhaps he sees having sex with her as being a way of gaining control over her, so he pretends to go along with it at first, then starts to turn the tables on her.

The first one would be easier to write, the second more complex but, possibly, more interesting to read.

thank you vermilion. I think the second one is gooing to be better. He is passive aggressive, but I think as things roll along he's not going to be so subtle.
