Click on a picture and it gives their name, address, and crime. What happened to innocent before being proved guilty? Don't you have some right to privacy?

You can search on other days as well. I found a bunch of cute little white teenage girls getting arrested for shoplifting. And almost every Mexican doesn't have a driver's license.

That's pretty weird. I'd think the ACLU may have a bit of a problem with that. And their web site leaves a bit to be desired in terms of the programming.

That's SO COOL.

An underage drink and a failure to maintain lane and now all the guys next to me on that grid have my name address and phone.

Sweet.

How long before someone gets killed here, wanna take some bets?

Yeah wouldn't be hard. Even have an angle. Pose as a lawyer interested in handling Susie's case.

I think the idea here is not to get arrested in any county... but I know my ideas can be pretty silly...

I have to admit, some of the pictures people took had me cracking a smile but that does seem a bit dangerous to do that, I mean if a person is innocent and their employer saw their mugshot. :(

Has anyone reported this to the aclu? Information pertaining to minors is supposed to be protected unless they are tried as an adult. might actually save someones life too.

Once you are arrested it becomes public information. All cities and counties of any size have similar databases available on the web but you have to search by name, not image (easy enough to get around by entering any name and clicking on the alphabetical listings . You just have to know where to look for the website for where you live. I hope the people traveling to the Atlanta get together take note. Gwinnett County considers itself the more genteel side of Atlanta, and they don't play when they consider themselves keeping their high tax base "safe."

I think I found at least two trans women in there. Interesting.

But yeah, while I have no problem with the sex offender database, it's disturbing that anybody who even gets BOOKED is posted up there like this.

They were, noticed that too. Makes me wonder if any of them get booked while dressed as a woman but aren't out about it yet.

I clicked the link for one of the other counties that did this. There's a picture of this innocent looking boy.... he was arrested for murder. :(

Oh did you peak at the list near where you live? I found 74 within 10 miles, even recognized one.

I suspect some of them are picked up for hooking, which means somebody knows...even if it's only their johns. But yeah, families may not know. :(

Here's a listing of county jail inmate lists, by state:
http://www.ancestorhunt.com/county-jail-inmates-search.htm

It appears to have current information. My county's is just a text list, no pictures, and I don't recognize any names - interesting to read arrest reasons like "WEAR EARPHONES/DRIVE/RIDING" and "TIRES WORN/BALD" though. I knew about the no earphones while driving, but they can arrest you for bald tires?!

I haven't looked at the specific link, but it doesn't surprise me. As madetotakeit pointed out, arrest and conviction records are "public information." They always have been. It's just been harder for Joe and Jane Citizen to get the information.

All of you remember TV news stories and newspaper articles about "so-and-so arrested for domestic violence" or "whatsisname charged with burglary." This is the same thing, simply carried out to all charges, including misdemeanors and traffic arrests. Your local newspaper and TV stations aren't going to sell advertising or copies with "Joe Bob was given a traffic citation for speeding today..." so they don't consider it "newsworthy". But it's public information none the less.

Posting the information in such an easy to access way can trace it's heritage to a very, VERY old system of civil discipline called "shaming". A lot of communities do similar things like printing the names and mug shots of john's busted for soliciting for prostitution. The idea is that if you KNOW, when you are caught and arrested, that everyone in town is going to know what you did, you are less likely to go out and do it.

Of course everyone believes that s/he is a criminal mastermind (or the rules don't apply to them  ) and they won't get caught, so they run off and do it anyway.

At least I was able to solve the last remaining mystery of the world - why women can't drive properly on a freeway. As the database shows, most women were booked on DUI charge. Now I have the answer. All this scientific "women have trouble estimating speed and distance of other objects" bullshit - it's much more simple.

Remedial math for you.

men on graph with DUI charges: women with DUI charges.

men:women in population

seems like it's not women who can't drive. Or do math.

His entire argument is constructed on a fallacy of relevance, IMHO.

That women can't drive on a freeway was already the prerequisite, silly.

I try to explain it in a simple way:
What is the reason women can't drive on a freeway?

As you can see, the amount of men who can't drive on a freeway or the amount of men with DUI charges or the amount of men with DUI charges who can't drive don't change the answer to the above question at all.

Or let me try it with math:
y = m * x + b and you shout: Hey, what you said is wrong, because z is 100. Relevance? None.

Next try.

I count five or six fallacies in your conclusions. But hey, you're only a man, you can't be expected to think hard about something.

You mean, what I wrote is not the absolute truth? How can this be? I'm shocked!
Can we ever really, really, know what is the truth? How do we know we're not part of an elaborate computer program designed by two little white mice? It gets all twisty...

I really wish I'd listened to what my mother told me when I was young.

The mindset of a woman.

The (lack of) fear of retribution is the difference between a sissy and a man.

42!

Now that you mention it... our local town paper always had a section with the prior night's arrests. We used to read it as a joke (bored hungover teenagers) of course, every once in a while we did know the people. It still feels weird to have your pics put up there, tho.

This makes me sick,
