Looks like something new is coming

I checked some of mine, and they seem reasonable. I had a gang-shag story, "We Swank It up with Pamela" and it was linked to other gang-shag stories. Some Father-daughter stories were linked to other Father-daughter stories, including one by Scouries and some by me featuring the same characters. I don't see anything wrong, at least not yet. :D

it's on my first and only story posted this week (tues? thurs?), in incest....

So one of my lesbian mind control storys that takes place in a night club is now similar to a loving wives story about a football game?

Me thinks the database needs some work.

One of my BDSM stories got linked to one of your mind control stories. I can live with that. :D

It's gotten around to me. My very first story, "A Beginning for an End" was linked to an essay on why anal sex is a good thing. Makes sense.

A good many of my stories have the links. The fall into two categories: ones by other authors that are embarrassingly not anywhere "similar" to my story and wholly to other stories of my own--again with no real similarity to that story other than authorship. Unless it changes, I think it's the pits.

My links--as they appear--are all over the map.

But a lot are to authors I admire--including some in the AH.

I haven't checked their subject or plot relationships to my stories--but I guess it will be straightened out eventually. :D

Only found one story with links so far. My romance novel is apparently very similar to a gay male prison story. Hmm. At least the other four links were actually romances.

LOL. Nothing on my latest chapter of Back to the Farm, but the very first chapter (romance, no sex) is linked to two incest/taboo stories, one non-consent/reluctance, one group sex and just the one romance...

All very similar stories

I noticed that this was in the works--for some reason I was reading Planet Manu yesterday and saw that he'd left a post about it.

Not sure that this is working so well so far though. I'm not saying 'romance' category readers don't read around but the links here don't seem to make a whole lot of sense to me.

Hmm...

So how does it work?

My first guess would be that it looks at votes and/or comments. Probably comments, since I don't think votes are logged with user IDs. It looks at a story and see who have commented and left a high rating with the comment. Then it goes through the database and see what other stories this user have commented with a high rating on. That's how Amazon does it, pretty much. But it does allow for soem weirdness, of people have versatile tastes in smut.

Huh. I clicked on one of my stories and it's only linked with only one other of my stories in the same category/same topic.

Not all stories are linked, but I did get a Jenny Jackson and Vermilion link. Sorry about that, you two.

I'm getting ready to go take a peek, but I suspect there's a good chance that the keywords have a lot of influence on what's considered similar.

EDIT: *laugh* Nope. I don't see the slightest relation between the keywords of the linked stories.

Still only the one. Since I don't post keywords, am I somewhat safer . . . and the rest of you safer from me?

Just edited my post, not the slightest similarities between the keywords on mine, although the top 3 out of 5 of the links to the one I checked quickly made sense to me - one non-human, and two lesbian. The story is a fantasy cat story that's heavy on FF.

I like the ones I've been linked to. Our stories are actually similar, lol, and I found a couple of really good reads.

I'm still scratching my head, wondering how my little "sam the christmas fairy" is anything like Colleen's amazing "call to the abyss"???

strange world...

eta: and while I'm amazingly flattered to be linked to Doc's "Game of Dress-Up" I have NO idea what that story's relation is to Under Mr Nolan's Bed??
