Reading the signs

Ok, so here's the thing. I wish there was a manual that helped you read the signs. To tell you if there, there or not.

The reason I say this is something that happened at work today and I can't shake it but I don't know if the signs were there or not.

I called a female member of my staff into the office. She sat opposite me.

We held eye contact for a bit.

The she started playing with the buttons on the cuff of her top.

Then she adjusted her bra by pulling it up by the cups. She repeated this about five times during the course of our discussion.

She also took her hair out of it's clip six or seven times then reclipped it.

She then adjusted her bra by the cups then the straps.

I'm just not sure what to make of it.

Was it just nerves at being called into the office by me or was it more?

Sure go for it, if you are wrong you will be a member of her staff, if you are right you get some but will still be a member of her staff.

While it certainly sounds like she may have been sending signals (though rather unskillfully), this is a VERY bad idea.
Its one thing to have sex with someone you work with.
It is another thing entirely to have sex with someone you manage.
Even in the best case scenario, you are then in a position where you have a significant conflict of interest.
And in worst case, there's a lawsuit and you get fired.

As often in life, what we want is often the last thing we should get.

I agree with others here... this sounds like trouble - if you "went for it" she could sue your ass off for sexual harassment

If it was official, ignore it and tell her not to do it again. If it happens get another member of staff in to the interview.

If it wasn't , you might invite her on a date is you are free.
