Obama's speech on race

There were probably more unemployed then to draw from, 95% of the labor force is employed.

Don't look now Skippy, but unemployment is on the rise and the Market is in a world of hurt.

It looks like the honeymoon is over. Nobody told Bush that tax cuts were supposed to be temporary to promote economic growth.

You really want to talk about job creation numbers? Bush's best quarter was lower than Clinton's worst quarter for job creation.

80,000 jobs lost in March., 20,000 more than 60,000 that was predicted.

Yeah, let's talk about job creation.

Obama has little to do with it, yet. You remind me of the brain-dead "not republicans" chanting about the 'do nothing' congress before they were even sworn in.
Again, and I love this about lit, I was hoping O'bama OR Hillary would talk about something important, like job creation, rather than sling mud at each other. If you want to compare Bush with Bill Clinton, thats an entirely different discussion. Raising minimum wage isnt one of them....

First of all it's Obama not O'bama. I'm not sure where your use of an apostrophe came from other than pure ignorance.. But regardless.

You obviously haven't been paying much attention at all to anything beyond the end of your nose..

"PINK SLIP NATION:"

Actually, though, the unemployment rate in November 1996, when Clinton rode a soaring economy to victory, was 5.4%. That's right--three tenths of a percent higher than the "grim picture" of a "pink slip nation" painted by this month's unemployment report.

That was different, because back then a man from Hope promised Change.

Ah, the view post option.. Why I bother I don't know.

You're right, when Clinton was re-elected in 1996 unemployment was at 5.4%, DOWN from the 7.3% that he inherited from Bush Sr in January of 1993.

Now when Bush Jr. was elected unemployment sat at 4.2% in January of 2001 when he was re-elected in 2004 it was 5.7% and now stands at 5.1% as of March 2008.

Nothing like a little disingenousness [edit: outright distorting the truth] in the morning from Dizzybooby.

Jesus man, I can spot your bull-shit through ignore..
Back to ignoreland for you, I can almost see the ranting now.

Wow, construction jobs, these links are worthless. I applaud these guys for at least saying we need jobs, I guess that's a start.

Nothing's ever good enough eh?

Don't worry, I'm sure your right wing pundit of choice will tell you what to whine about next.

This coming from one of the biggest whiners on this board who swallows his parties bullshit hook, line and sinker.

What can I say, your links didn't say very much. Construction jobs aren't what this country needs, I'll take them, but we need to bring back manufacturing which means instead of building a wall to divide Mexico, we should be building super highways so they can come here in droves...we need the cheap labor to compete with Europe

The right wing whines? Read some of your own posts. You and LT just about top the list of whiners.

His wife probably won't let him talk around the house....therefore, he vents here.

Hur hur hur..

They mentioned far more than "just construction jobs", but that would require more actual effort on your part to see what was said rather than live on the sound bites provided by Limbaugh, Hannity.. <insert right wing nutjob of choice here>.

Yup, right wing whines..

"They aren't talking about job creation!"
<several articles linked to show that they are indeed>
"Not those jobs!"

Tell us Faneros, what are those construction jobs building? Energy infrastructure, will new infrastructure not create more jobs?

Manufacturing so that we can import even more cheap labor? how exactly is that going to provide jobs to the US? I mean hell, it'll provide a hell of a lot of jobs for Mexicans under your plan.. real smart..

Did you lose your train of thought again?

Nope, the train just ran you over. Do try to keep up.

I was addressing Faneros' whine that Clinton and Obama hadn't addressed job creation when in fact they have many times.

They touched on it, they told Michigan and some other battered states what they wanted to hear, but they haven't really addressed it.

I stand corrected.

However - at this juncture any talk about job creation is useless. The market will probably make any needed corrections long before the election. The unemployment rate is still relatively low and natural forces are at work.

For instance - a whole bunch of people took out bad loans and got foreclosed upon. this is only a temporary condition. All those houses will eventually be absorbed in the market and building will start again. I've seen it before (at least three times, albeit for different reasons) and if I live long enough I'll see it again.

(shrug)

The market always corrects itself, if they would just leave it alone instead of doing things like raising minimum wage, we would be fine.

Yeah, damn them for making corporations pay people enough to actually buy food and shelter. IF they work two full-time minimum wage jobs.

The bastards.

It hurts small business, many employers cut back hours or eliminate the job altogether to absorb the additional costs. The democrats stuck it in the war funding....go figure

There will be more pan handlers and drug dealers other wise look for work in prostitution
