that rice seems somehow out of place.
It's yummy. It's also what I had for dinner last night.

really?
Cut them into 1in pieces and stew with potatoes and onion. Carrots are optional. Best stew ever on a cold day.
really?
I hate stewed sausages. The texture makes me puke.
Really. To an Irishman, corned beef is what poor people put on sandwiches.
All-in stew, including boiled sweets?

Corned beef is not really a traditional Irish food.
I think that's the genesis of it here as well. The poor Irish immigrants could only afford the cheap cuts of meat, and then only on special days. So, they learned to season and tenderize the brisket - hence the American Irish eat corned beef.
It's not unlike the poor southerners developing BBQ - "eating high on the hog" is where the rich folk ate. Poor folk got the cheap cuts and had to cook them forever.
see, i was kinda wondering about that honestly. of course, i don't have a clue what traditional irish food is. i don't think most americans do. irish restaurants just don't exist.
well, i've never seen one.
Until I moved to the states, I'd never seen corned beef that didn't come out of a tin. Corned beef hash is a quick, cheap meal when you're broke though.
there's a good one in seattle. and one in San Francisco. they have like, pasties and stew and shepards pie and stuff. and beer. lots of beer. it's tasty.
the irish eat reubens?

beer is good.
Your sig line has gratuitous amounts of trans gendered ejaculation. I like it.
I have no idea what reubens are.
Trad Irish food is Irish stew (duh!), boiled bacon and cabbage, champ (mashed potatoes and spring onions), very similar to English, really.
