New Themed Contest

Here's a suggestion that will most likely be ignored: Doing your civic duty; from charity work to exposing corruption in government to unionizing the workplace to legalizing prostitution - basically, any activity that addresses how individuals interface with government and/or the social welfare of society - combined with the sexual escapades that so often accompany those activities.

We are a socially-aware bunch. Why not explore a subject that could have the potential to educate the readers, as well as ourselves? Jenny's Earth Day piece is a good example. It makes you think about the excesses of government, which is the first step towards changing the government for the better.

Sticking the 'Doing your Civic Duty' contest between Nude Day and Halloween would seem to strike a good balance between fluff and depth. I, for one, don't need to read another hundred stories about fucking in the sunshine. But fucking in the elevator at the Courthouse? That, to me, sounds interesting.

The Good Samaritan Tales?

Community Service Stories?

Personally, I think it would be great to have a contest that covers only a few categories. That way the readership voting would be pretty much the same (or very similar) for all of the stories in the contest. Pitting one author's "Loving Wives" story against another's "Romance" story is like playing chess without your rook. I'd love to see a GLBT contest, or even a Loving Wives contest. It would be a better test of writing than category appeal. IMHO. I'm supposed to add that, right? :D

Oh, yes, by all means, let's have specific "Loving Wives," or "Romance," or "Incest/Taboo" contests. They certainly don't get their share of attention now relative to other categories.:D

The Good Samaritan Tales?

Community Service Stories?

Voter outreach, politicians and their interns, lobbyists making deals, televangelists and their whores, crooked cops extorting favors, the possibilities are endless.

Trouble in Paradise - covering ground in 'loving wives' territory, conflict resolution, vacations gone amuck, corrupt governments in idyllic settings, wedding receptions gone wrong, catfights. Come on, everybody loves a catfight.

Gee, thanks Darkside. Like I don't have enough hassle with the Winter holiday contest.

Grumble gripe bitch

We have the Earth Day Contest, why not balancing out the elements?

Sea Day (Sex on the ocean, sex in Sea World, sex with piranhas...)

Air Day (Sex while parachuting, sex on the plane, sex with "Air" Jordan...)

Fire Day (ehmmm... I better don't think about that...)

you talked to the Queen?????

MOONMAN QUOTEI was looking through the list of contests and there's quite a gap between Nude Day and Halloween. Laurel is open to the idea of adding another contest. So any suggestions for another themed contest? I was thinking about one along the lines of "How I Spent My Summer Vacation", a contest about vacations, holidays etc. If there's any interest in adding another contest, now's the time to put forward your ideas.

I must say moonman that I was absolutely flummoxed when I saw the above post on your thread. Doubly flummoxed in fact.

First, simply by the fact that apparently you are in contact with her highness LAUREL III. Will wonders never cease. There is hope for all of us! (although I am aware this could be an April Fool’s joke you are playing on us all)

Second, that it is through you that her highness has communicated her wishes on the matter of themed contests. Given your often published opinion that you have no interest in entering stories in any contest and the fact you also doubt the veracity of the vote counting system, I’d have thought you would have been the last person to be chosen as the front man for any contest study.

I would like to advise you however that I am quite eager to put forward my ideas in the hopes they will reach the ROYAL EAR. I believe a new unscheduled contest would be the perfect place to “try out” various new ideas that heretofore have been too radical for the conservative AHland establishment.

I am extremely busy these days writing my next best seller (hopefully out in time for the Earth Day Contest) so it may take a couple of days to formulate my suggestions. However, please do not send off your report to her highness until I’ve sent you my ideas (I promise, it’ll be within a couple of days).

The suggestion will address such issues as:

*Length of story
*Multi chapter stories
*Vote selling, group tactics
*Number of submissions allowed per LITEROTICAN
*Adherence to theme and the issue of story disqualification
*Minimum vote totals required
*Audited vote verification
*Multi authored stories
*Contest theme issues
Etc., etc.

No, it's not a April Fool's joke as I posted this on 3/31. I've sent PM's to Laurel before and have always received a timely reply from her, as have many people here. I wouldn't say that she communicated her wishes. I only said that if there is interest in a contest between Nude Day, and Halloween that she is open for suggestions.

While I don't have much interest in personally entering contests, I do care about the site. One doesn't have to have a horse in the running to be interested in the race.
