Obama's speech on race

Maybe it's just a lack of substance, a lack of detail, a lack of explanation, as to how he plans to accomplish of his grandiose ideas. Some of us have spent a lifetime hearing flowery speech and no result, after all, there was Jimmy Carter.

I am sure that is the case with some people. I did not supported Obama in the caucus myself, in part with that consideration in mind.

But, we would be remiss if we did not admit that there are some people who are determined to not support a black candidate, and are using the Wright situation to justify their prejudice.

Did Kerry or anyone actual prove the swiftboat charges to be wrong? I haven't seen any sources yet so would be glad if someone has them.

If the official records of the US Navy aren't good enough for you, I doubt that any source I cited would be acceptable.

There are many qualified black people who I would vote for in a heartbeat. I agreed with everyone on a list posted earlier by Ishmael.

And I'll admit that Wright frightens me. Just as much as any zealot of the left or right. I doubt it will sway my vote, but it's certainly something Obama will have to contest to if he wins the nomination. While I'm pleased he didn't severe his ties as many candidates would, I would love if he could just come out and say "Yes, Wright is a whack job, but he's my friend."

Huh? The accusation that Wright was a racist was at the heart of the controversy. How was Obama supposed to address the issue without confronting it?

Agreed. But that is largely the fault of the media trying to shoehorn the race into a pre-determined narrative of their own devise. They decided that Hillary was the inevitable nominee, so why look closely at anyone else?

Without any real knowledge of his background? Two books, his time in the government, and others sponsoring him that are well known in offices around the country. What more do you want? Dental records and names on his life insurance policies to see who gets what?

People are concerned about him because of his hatred for this country and his views of it. It goes beyond racism.
