Obama's speech on race

Jesus Christ are you listening to yourself? One reporter claims he was there, and there is a video on FOX, the RIGHT WING new channel. You're nuts.

Gimme a break

People who write for Newsmax are not reporters, they are political activists.

While certainly eloquent, I was somewhat disappointed in the response he gave during the speech.

Considering the level of anti-American sentiment in the sermons given, I find it difficult to believe he didn't know about them and that he continued to attend that particular church is cause for some further scrutiny to me.

As well it should be Zip.

All of his speeches are eloquent, but he still failed to address the questions being raised. I suspect this is far from over.

Agreed, although very eloquent he came up short in my opinion. The inconsistencies are glaring. Yesterday I called him a liar, I was a bit quick on the stick with that one but he needs to address those inconsistencies.

He DOES address them. Its seems on this forum there's like a neocon problem with reading comprehension

I'll ask you and zip the same question that I asked slowlane here.

And after he said all that he went on to attempt to 'teach' us why we should understand the good Rev., and that he was fully justified in having, and continuing, his, and his families, relationship with Wright. His comments of justification virtually nullified his previous statements. That is the logical reduction of what he had to say.

He further went on to throw his grandmother under the bus to make a political point.

You can believe what you want, but I'm pretty sure that he did nothing but continue the issue and open himself to even further scrutiny.

Do people ever ask him about his exit strategy for Iraq?

Or maybe the economics of his national health care plan?

Do we really want to treat every candidate like we are on the Watergate Committee?

Really.

The exit strategy for IRAQ where he seems to think it might not be so easy to withdraw despite his rhetoric?

His stand on NAFTA which may just be sloganeering (wink, wink) and don't worry, he's not going to change it?

Or perhaps the Obamans are too wrapped up in his rhetoric to see the answers are unsatisfactory. After all, it depends on what you mean by "answer."

Or perhaps Obama's supporters are overestimating the desire for racial reconciliation in this country.

Only, up until a week or so ago, he wasn't going to talk about race.

Guess he had inspiration.

I don't really think he had much choice, do you?

Of course, he could have ignored all this, like John Kerry ignored the Swiftboat liars, but we saw how that worked out.

Ignoring the "swiftboat" tactics earned Kerry a defeat. There is only one way to address an attack of this sort, by meeting it head on. The high road may look pretty, but it isn't going to win an election. While you're busy being above the fray the opposition is getting it's mitts dirty and digging the road from beneath your feet.

Did Kerry or anyone actual prove the swiftboat charges to be wrong? I haven't seen any sources yet so would be glad if someone has them.

Speaking of Jim Davis, the reporter who wrote the article originally on August 9, 2007, he had this to say recently to backup his claim that he saw Obama nodding in agreement during a sermon by Rev. Wright on July 22, 2007:

Here are the facts.

The early morning service started at 7:15 AM. It happened as I described it in the Newsmax article. The listing on the church website has the early morning and evening speakers switched around. It was Jeremiah Wright in the morning, not Anthony Burnette. And it was Burnette in the evening, not Wright.

They hustled Obama out the door at 8:15 AM. With a police escort and cross traffic blocked at every stop light, it’s no problem getting to Midway Airport in 20 minutes. The private jet was undoubtedly waiting with engines running. Presidential candidates don’t stand in line at the airport like the rest of us.

The Obama campaign has confirmed that Obama’s plane was wheels up and flying out of Chicago at 8:50 AM. At 550 MPH it’s just over two hours to Miami. Let’s call it three for the sake of argument.

This link confirms that Obama arrived 20 minutes late, at 1:50 PM Miami time (12:50 PM Chicago time).

Do the math, everybody. You have every right to ask these questions.
