There's a lot of avatar-friendly threads going around, showing love for other people's avatars. However, I haven't seen one touting the love of the av from the actual person.

So. What do you like about your current av? Was it the fabulous makeup? The fantastic location? Or the fact that your significant other took it?

Details please!

Well, my av isn't of me, but I still am in love with it for particular reasons. This is going to be a bit rambling, so forgive me.

My av is of Lesley Gore (of "Its My Party" fame) who is not my musical idol, but my hair idol. When I first got obsessed with doing my hair in a 60s flip, she was my obsession. She had the perfect hair for every era of 60s fabulous styles. I am completely enamored with her (at least her from 50 years ago), she is what I wish I looked like. And she's from NY!

I once got the chance to talk to her when she went to speak at the 92nd St. Y. After her talk she had a mini record signing and I went up to her with my compilation album (the one with the photo of her from when she was really young with the massive beehive) and when she asked who to sign it to I said "To Syd, and um, Lesley... your my hair idol!" I was so nervous. I had done my hair beautifully that day, and I was so excited that I could finally tell her what an inspiration she'd been to me... and she didn't even look up! I was crushed.

But I still love her. And her hair.

(yes, yes, I think about hair a lot. At least I KNOW that I'm a little superficial.)

It's not just that I love Wonder Woman (I wanted to be her every now and again when I was a kid) it's that a good friend knows of my WWness and made this av for me. Some of my favorite avs for myself were gifts from friends who found them for me.

So thanks again Shyguy!

Love the summer, the heat, getting wet ...

It's a nice reminder of the summer almost over too

 Katie

I like that I got the lighting how I wanted it. If I could've done it with my glasses on, I would be happier.

I look genuinely happy in it *shrugs* It's one of my better ones I suppose.

I like my current av(s) because I've been reaching out with the nerdy look a lot lately, and I feel a lot more comfortable wearing glasses in public because of the positive reactions here at Literotica.

I think I love it because my eyebrows are PERFECT! :D

Your eyebrows are perfect, and your cheekbones and jawline look awesome as well.

I like mine because I totally dig Eugenio Recuenco.

A lot of girls just don't understand the massive importance of nicely proportioned, well groomed eyebrows! I see way too many girls with the McDonald's arches, the straight thin line across the orbital bone, the "tadpole", or the drag queen SUPER ARCH.

I'm sorry, only drag queens get to have drag queen eyebrows.

Aaaanyway, THANK YOU! My facial features have been somewhat of a sensitive topic in my past, although I'm coming to find them...if not what's usually considered beautiful...acceptable once done up properly.

Recuenco is awesome. That is all.

Women + glasses = hawtness

My gal got these black frames at my suggestion. Kind of retro or somesuch (like I know the right terms) and I love them. She looks fantastic in them.

I like mine because I think it's the best pic I've ever seen of myself and because Kitty took it. She's an awesome photographer! :)

I kind of have to agree with you on that one. I was a bit overboard on the eyebrow grooming in my early teens - still learning about beauty care and such. I over plucked, and so now I spend a decent portion of my grooming routine trying to fill in the gaps with a pencil and get them "just right". I have a lot of experience noticing arch and curve in relation to facial features and so on and so forth...

My dexterity is awesome now. *laughs*

You're welcome. I used to feel that way. In spanish I learned a word which meant "not typically beautiful" or not beautiful in a classic sense, but it escapes me at present. I used to think I was attractive, although not classicly so.

I think you're gorgeous.

And yes, Recuenco rocks.

Oh man, I completely understand. Eyebrows are so important! Really nice ones just makes everything else better and are so hard to come by. We are on a continual quest for perfect eyebrows! I really feel great when I've got them just right. Yours do look great in your av.

I'm afraid mine are a tiiiiny bit lopsided right now *grrr* Ah well, the quest continues!

One fantastic way of seeing where your eyebrows is to use the "Pencil" trick I was taught by a very good makeup artist.

I'll post pictures as examples, hopefully as to make sure it's not confusing.

Place a makeup pencil along the side of your nostril, with the crayon part of the pencil pointing towards the ceiling. Where the pencil touches your orbital bone, mark a line. That's the Starting Point.

To see where the arch should be, tilt the pencil from the side of your nostril so the crayon tip is pointing at an angle towards your temple. The pencil should cross the middle of your pupil.

To find where your eyebrow should end, take the pencil and line it up from the side of your nostril to the outer corner of your eye.

Ohh thanks! I knew about the starting point - probably learned about it in a magazine or something, but the arch one is great. Some days I'm not happy with the way it turned out. I'll have to try this.

Well, I just think my av is cheery. For me anyway. I love these blooms that I get to see for so long in my garden. (When I'm not knocking myself out hitting tree limbs....)

I love so many other's avs. But I'm not willing or able to share my face or body.

But I will say that my eyebrows look pretty damn good.

For now, anyway.

And Pantomine_Muse: do you mean "no no clásico hermosa(o)" Like I aways think of Paloma Picasso or Maria Callas? Not traditional beauty, but still beautiful?

*nod* Yes, please stop running into tree limbs! :rose:

As far as the term. I want to say that it was just one word. Not typically beautiful or something.

Sir is fluent in Spanish. When he comes home from work at seven, I'll ask him.

I like my avatar because it is pretty. I got a few shots similar to this in my collection, however this one is off the web. I don’t really like publicizing pictures, something about it doesn’t feel right.

My current AV is Maxfield Parrish's Morning, which I love for it's reflective mood. I've been going through a period of reflection in my own life, so it is a piece that speaks to me.

However, I feel a change coming on. I'm getting out there, taking risks, and I think my AV will have to change to mirror that a bit.

And for the record, my eyebrows are my personal cross to bear. Toward the end the hairs actually furze in every direction, including away from my face. Neither wax, nor gel, nor hair products can make them behave.
