It's the simplest trick-- the invisible letters are styled white in color, 2 pixels high, and to the far right of the email document. The spam scanners look for keywords, but the garble breaks them up-- however, not to the viewer.

Please do not click on any links in these emails, I'm sure you all know already! Rob posted about it a short while back-- the sites themselves have nothing to do with the ads. They are on servers that have been hijacked and will infect your computer with a trojan horse virus that links you into a denial-of-service network. They are the reason the internet has been moving slower for a couple weeks.
