Hello,

I need help. I am looking for someone to look through a few chapters of a story I am writing for Lit as a hobby project. I have not worked with an editor yet and would therefor welcome someone with more experience.

I believe to need help with grammar and punctuation, probably even wording here and there. Opinion on the story's development, ideas are not a requirement but if you notice inconsistencies and feel like pointing them out, I'll be happy to know.

Size is approximately 3500-6000 words per chapter.

Category is Nonhuman in a present setting, with a strong emphasis on romance. Sex is included and some mild BDSM, but those are really secondary and more of a tool than the actual aim of my writing.

I am not sure what else to include here so will post a link to the bit of my work that is already posted at Lit so that you can get a feel for my style should you decide to check it out.

Thanks for reading my ad. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask me.

I read your chapter called Stray Prey; I'm not "experienced" at editing fiction, but I do work as an editor for "nonfiction", so to speak, and I love to read, and I would love to read more of your stories as they developed. I have only recently signed onto this website, and my editor status is currently pending.

My situation has changed little since the original post. I have just signed in again and read a few of my chapters after a long time, along with some of the comments left by readers pointing out once again how much my story needs editing!

So, a hopeful bump for any kindhearted volunteers. :)

That status is likely to last for a long time. People complain about waiting months these days. If you want to edit, and someone wants an editor, go ahead, there is no rule that you can't help someone. All the official list does is display a profile and allow communication.

If you are seriously willing you could always advertise your services in a thread on here.

Yep.
I haven't been added to the list yet either. Submitted about 3 weeks ago.
Already working with authors.
Don't wait for that, just dive right in if you want to help some folks.

For the original poster, it sounds a little too time intensive for me at the moment. I can't guarentee good turn around times. Life is kind of getting in the way for me recently. The authors I'm working with now are already suffering from it. Adding more might make it unbearable. Keep looking though. Plenty of people here willing to help.

I am new here and looked for an editor and serendipity gave me one that is on the same wave length as I am. If you have someone willing to work with you and with whom you feel comfortable, go for it regardless of their credentials on this site! Good luck! - Amber

Thank you. :rose: I appreciate your encouragement and plan to keep looking. Good things come to those who wait, right? :)

I Can Help

The writing bug has left me for the moment so I'm willing to help those in need. The bulk of my editing is done on weekends when I have more time but during the week I get to it as I can, a half-hour here and there, which makes my progress much slower.

But if you're patient (I can probably edit 3-4k words a day if the story isn't edit-intensive) I can take one on. I don't know what length it is, but if you use the 3-4k rule you'll have a pretty good idea how long it might take me. If you're still game, so am I.

Paste it into a PM and give me an address to return it to. Assuming you will, do you want me to make the changes I recommend or merely suggest what I think needs to be changed? That's your call, let me know.

Thank you so much! Excited PM is on the way! :)
