I wanted to start a thread of people who only have one identity. I'm hoping that I'm not the only person on this board with only one identity.

It's difficult to know who you are writing to when so many posters here have multiple identities.

My identity, my only identity is Bostonfictionwriter.

I only have one identity because I want to be credited for every word that I write. Good, bad or indifferent, the buck stops with Bostonfictionwriter when you want to correspond with him.

I don't have any other identities running interference for me. I don't have another identity to take the other side of my argument. I don't have another identity to vote for my stories. I don't have another identity to support what I say or to write something good or nasty to someone rather than using anonymous.

Which brings up another point. I've never used the anonymous when writing a comment. I'm an upfront sort of guy. I think it has something to do with growing up in Boston, we are similar to New Yorkers in that regard. We don't hide and cower behind what we say.

So, if you only have one identity, please identity yourself so that I know who it is I am corresponding with when corresponding with you.

Thanks,

Freddie

If I had more identies here, all the rest of my personalities would want one. I simply haven't the time.

I have another - troglodyte - but I never use it.

Some people socialize under one alt and submit stories under another.

I stand in awe of Sweetness reply. It is what I want to say and would, except that Hillary would accuse me of plagiarism.

Oh, dear. I have an alt. I feel so ... deceitful.

And I have three: Jeanne D'Artois and Fag-Ash Lil and another that is still a virgin.

Jeanne appears in my signature. I appear in "hers". Fag-Ash Lil is a character in one of Jeanne's stories. Unatit

I opened an alt when my account didn't seem to be working. But I don't use it (and am not sure if I can even remember its password anymore).

I do share an alt with a coauthor here for posting of cowritten stories: Shabbu. The only time I used it to post to the forum, however, I just was in the wrong account--and I immediately noted that I had made the mistake.

Having more than one identity sounds like work. I'm too lazy to do it.

I dunno if I fit this or not...

Back when I first ever started doing things online, I chose an old D&D character for my name/handle. This was back on local BBSes using programs like C-Net, Telegard, Renegade, etc...and some of them were hooked into various networks like Throbnet and Valnet...so it was odd to occasionally go somewhere new and find people who recognized my name and knew some of my writing or forum antics.

That name followed me to AOL and MSN, but pretty much has become limited to Neopets these days (I had to check it out before letting the kids go there. Didn't I?)

But here on Lit, I am and have always been Remec. (Not counting LitChat, where I'm Aldarras like I am on Yahoo!)

Thank you.

Ah...I feel so much better knowing that I am not the only person on this site with only one identity and access to only one computer.

Thank you to all those who have taken the time to post. I appreciate it.

I will post as well.

I am Bostonfictionwriter. I've written a couple stories since January 2007 and I have only one identity.

Suddenly, I feel like I stumbled into an AA meeting.

So you'd like me to assure you that I've never assumed an alternate identity or resorted to commenting anonymously while posting as a horse with no gender, proper name, or location?

The Internet really does bring up the oddest issues.

I'm me and me alone.
I go by a different name in real life and another name in other places on the net. But here, I'm starrkers.

Does it really matter?

I'm Ken.And so are my Alts.
