Can you suggest an alternative that won't ruin the leather of someone's super-fine boots?

I've always preferred meltonian to kiwi. It's runnier though, so you can't do that cool fireplay thing with it, really.

I might just do a light bit of food grade olive or coconut oil, maybe. Maybe. Don't quote me on it and then ruin the boots, but those are nice enough to skin that I think they'd maybe be OK on leather.

Horse geek who spends way too much time oiling leather says this should work fine. If the boots were a color other than black, I'd warn that the oil might stain them darker, but they ain't gonna get much darker than black, are they?

It's a risk, it can be mitigated, it will probably not kill you if this is not a daily event thing and you're not eating, like, tablespoons of the stuff. But it is toxic.

I saw someone try Vegemite (or was it Marmite? Who knows) on Rove, back when he was still Rove Live. It was their first time trying it, and a plate with a piece of toast and a butter knife were put in front of the person. (I can't remember who it was honestly.)

The person just took a huge dollop of it on the knife and ate it straight. The look on the face was absolutely hilarious.

I've never tried the stuff, and have been living in NZ for over 4 years. I say natural food should simply not be black, therefore it's wrong.

The banana peels are a great idea, but we're sort of going for the look of boot black, as much as anything else.

No Marla it would be fine on leather, wouldn't damage it. Might even enhance it. Has a slight yeast / sea smell. It has a high salt content. If the base color of the leather is black/dark it will pose no challenge whatsoever. It only requires a small amount. I think it has the potential to be perfect for your uses from what I have been able to ascertain. Good luck with it, love to hear the outcome
