Ropework photos

I'll try to make a quick folder out of this guide, and show you the result. I have plenty of webspace to upload it to, so that's not a problem.

Thanks! I'm got a mod though, thanks to you :D

Looking at this pic inspired me, and I've got an idea on how to make it more secure. I was looking at leads trailing down and mentally grousing that this very angle was the one place where the tie is weak. In trying to figure out how I can prevent that from occuring, I decided to added in two hitches instead of the second wrap. Bingo! Perfect solution. I'll post pics, and an updated version of the tutorial in a bit. Thanks again, Shyguy!!

Time for a quick tutorial. I mentioned the Catspaw Lite cuff in a previous post, and I've used it here and there since. Like I said in that post, the Catspaw cuff is a cool one, but it has a few too many wraps for my taste, and too many steps. I was playing around with the concept and came up with a cuff that I like for lower security uses.

This one has not yet shown any propensity for tightening, but it's not a cuff that I've used to hold any sort of weight, so take it with a grain of salt. It is not by any means escape proof, and an eel will probably get out of it.

It works best when there is some tension on the lead. The bottom line here is that it is intended as a comfortable cuff which can be quickly applied and tied to a hard point, such as the bedpost or whatnot.

So here we go:

First step is to find the middle of you rope and fold it in half. This produces a "bight", which is the turn you just produced. There is also the 'working end', which is the two loose bits.

Wrap that loop round the column you want to secure, and tuck the working end through the bight. This produces a Larkshead.

You have just learned the primary knot used in this style of rope bondage. And limbs are referred to as columns. Legs, arms, torsos, whatever, they're all columns.

Note - don't snug this down tight. You will be passing lines under this bight. You should be able to slide two fingers under the wraps at any given point.

Wrap the working ends back around the column in the opposite direction, making sure to lay the lines flat and outside the original lines.

Note - You want your wraps to lay flat as it will better support the limb, and prevent pressure points in the tie. It will also help to prevent pinch bruising if the cuff is used under tension.

You'll notice that the lines you just laid form two more bights. Tuck each working end into these bights, making sure to keep all of your lines flat and parallel.

Take your working lead and tuck them under the existing lines.

Tuck the working end through the loop that you just formed.

----

Pull it tight.

----

Repeat with the other side.

Pull both taut and you are done. You'll notice that this is my own wrist here. This cuff can be tied one handed, and I've done so on myself many times while testing it and playing with it.

As I said before, I'm still testing this, so don't trust it to bear weight. Frankly, the wrist and ankles should never be trusted to bear weight any way. They're too easily damaged, but a cuff like this is great for keeping a limb in a given spot.

And, obviously, you want to use more rope than this. This is a piece of acid green MFP from Rainbow Rope that they gave me when I bought all but this off the spool. Nice rope, eh? It's 6mm rope, and this length is probably 4ft long, so you'll need 4ft for the cuff. Whatever you have left can be used to tie the cuff to something stable. The rest is up to you.

*Sigh* Such sexy men. Such pretty rope. What's a girl like me to do? :p

I'm happy to be of assistance!!

And since I inspired it, I had to try it out myself ;)

Yup, you got it. If you twist the working ends more toward the inside and straight out from the wrists, it will tighten the hitches up.

Get in the same room as one of those aforementioned guys with rope, and get some on you. Pretty simple, really.

Nooooooo there is not a dominant that walks this earth that is that brave. Well maybe one, then there was , ohhhh nevermind......... : sighslaughs :
Hehe. Now you've challenged him. ;)
Once you're in England, Denmark is only a short flight away! ;)
Exactly. ;) Neither one of us has been to Denmark. Got a spare bed? Be fun to add photos in here for Homburg (and everyone else) to enjoy. :)

Newp, still just see hands :D

I could have sworn there was some rope there. Does it blend in with the skin tone too much again? Perhaps some hot pink?

VB has it right here, rebecca. Best not to challenge me to produce such things. You saw what I did with the grouse request. I'm crafty.

A very good guide, Homburg, :D

Unfortunately, since I seem to have misplaced my ropes somewhere in the flat, I won't be trying it till I find them!

Until then, I can't say whether if it is a good guide for me!

pst.....lovely hands, by the way, Homburg! :rose:

Heeeeeeeeeeeeey I wasn't challenging anyone with anything. Miss VB initiated that part of the topic, it wasn't my intent, I was just laughing here and permitting nature to take it's course. I am verrrrry amicable that way : smiles :

I'm watching you. Yes, I have my eye on you closely, miss rebecca.

Me? Not little innocent me! I was merely making an observation. ;) (And, please, feel free to call me Miss Velvet. LOL)
