In the FAQ it says not to add copyrighted images, however you can add your own images if they are not copyrighted, and must be hosted on your own Webspace such as Imageshack (if in a public space).
Like Imageshack, Deviant Art does not allow hotlinking, but it doesn't have public spaces either.

This makes me wonder what about non copywrited edits from copywrited images such as a picture of Tecmo's character Ayane from the Dead or Alive video game series, pasted on a cropped and recolored background from xbox.ign.com and Gamespot photoshopped in red shorts with open zipper and full bikini top, or zipped red shorts and revealing bikini top.

These particular edits can't be used without the owner's permission.
The editor (actually draws as well) can't be reached nor does he want to be E-mailed on the subject.
