Ok, so I had a lower molar missing on one side of my mouth, and a crown that kept coming off on the other. The dentist finally gave the crown up as a bad job and said I should have what he called a "partial." I chose this option because it was cheaper than a bridge and I was still paying on a bridge on the upper side, right plus the same crown that kept coming out. I'd had the idea that I'd get a "flipper" on either side, but what I've got is a single unit that looks like a nudibranch (one of these marine life forms) with a false tooth on each side of it. It has little claws that grip my lower canines in front and the molars in back. And there's pressure on all four teeth. Plus, the underside of my tongue is chafed. It's very uncomfortable, unless I'm treating it with either wine or Percosets. And it hurts to chew. The inner edges of the thing dig into the bottom of my mouth. I'm supposed to go back for a checkup in February to see what rubs and irritates, and I can hardly wait.
I can wear the thing for days at a time, but occasionally I have to take it out and clean it, or leave it to soak, so basically, what I've got is a kind of denture. I never thought I would come to this, at least not for a very, very, very long time.
Has anybody else experienced this?
