If she would run, I'd vote for her. More than that, I'd devote all my efforts to getting her elected.
Condoleezza Rice.

The woman who was 'disappointed' with Canada because we wouldn't go along with an illegal war? Said it in a teacher's tone. 'I'd expected better of you children.'
The woman who has made it clear that the U.S. doesn't torture, even in the face of much evidence that they do?
Sorry Misty. Ms. Rice is one of the idiots that has torn your lovely country to pieces. Broken its military, ruined its finances, buried the Constitution in a deep grave and stuck a stake in its heart.
I wouldn't vote for her or any of the Vulcans.

I would love to see her private life scrutinized for once.
I don't have much respect for her, unfortunately.
She's incredibly smart, but you have to wonder about someone's common sense aligning themselves with Dubya. I wanted to like her, I really did - she's from Alabama, and overcame a lot of things to get to where she is, but....nope. She makes me uneasy as all get out.
Indeed. I'm sure shoe shopping while Katrina ravages all the cities on the gulf coast is the least of her vices.
Ok, I'll bite.I said this 3 years ago, and I will keep saying it,
She is MORE deserving than any of the current candidiates.

Ok, I'll bite.
Why? What specifically makes her deserving?
In the political sphere, her lifelong exclusive focus on foreign policy is a legitimate issue to raise. It's not a disqualification, but it would have to be seriously and fully responded to. She might make a terrific Chairwoman of the Foreign Relations Committee, though. Indeed, that is probably the best possible place for her to be.
What sort of disqualifies her here is that this has been her emphasis, and I can't think of a foreign policy success the whole time she's been at it in the administration. Can you? I'm sure there must be something out there, so I'm not declaring there isn't--they just are very well hidden behind a wall of SNAFUs, if they exist. I don't necessarily blame her personally for how it is--but she isn't quite that brilliant to have stayed around for all of it. Colin Powel was smarter then she is--he jumped the disaster ship altogether.
Let's hear of her government service victories (other than getting good jobs for herself).
You might as well be plugging Kathy Hughes for president on the same "abilities" Condi Rice has exhibited.

SR, I didn't care much for Powell when he was Secretary of State. He gave up his integraty to follow the Bush Administration line, even in the face of overwhelming evidence that the Bush spin was entirely fiction. But, at least, he had enough left to leave that band of criminals at the end of the first term.
Rice, on the other hand, will swear Bush was right for the rest of her life, even though she knows it's all been a fantastic lie.
According to a report in today's The Times, Colin Powell considered running for President some years ago but was dissauded by his family because a black President would be a serious target for assassination.
Assassination is a risk all US Presidents and candidates have to consider.
Whether a black President would face a higher risk? I think Powell's family were right to think that assassination was a real possibility.
Some groups in the US are not ready to accept a black President. Some are not ready to accept a woman President. How dangerous some of those groups are - that is a matter for judgement by US citizens.
In the UK our Prime Minister is NOT our Head of State - the Queen is. There have been several planned assassination attempts on her and the Brighton Bombing aimed to kill Margaret Thatcher. However the risks in the UK to the Queen and our Prime Minister are far lower than the risk to a US President.
