Ok, I only just found out that Jodie Foster has finally emerged from the closet..... yes, yes I know, its old news now but since I dont read papers or watch any sort of news at all, I just read it in another thread (using her as a lesbian example) and yes, it was obvius before and we all knew she was gay but its nice for her to publically acknowledge it, especially in an industry that seems stuck in the dark ages regarding whose doing what to whom in their own private spaces, although to give them their due, they're getting better.

Theres lots of speculation generally when a celeb comes out but why? Surely they're people entitled to live their lives as they see fit so why is it news worthy? Then again, why is it news worthy when Justine Timberlake gets a new girlfriend?

Personally, Im glad she's finally done it, I think shes bloody marvelous and a fine role model for many young lesbians......... also, Im soooooo glad my gaydar is so finely tuned...... not now, but I knew she was gay when I was very tiny, I just wished I'd listened to it more growing up!

But yay Jodie!!!!

I didn't know she'd come out, so good on her. As you said, it had been suspected for a very long time.

On another issue I'm slightly annoyed with her, however.

So what if she is gay, I couldn´t give a rats ass. She is a great actor. And she should not be in that situation, when she had to show her colours.

She didn't have to do anything at all! For the past 15+ years she hasn't! From what I can gather, she chose to so she could acknowledge the love and support her partner has given her over the years so in order to do that, given that her partner is also a woman, it was one of those side effects!
She didnt exactly scream it from the rooftops, she acknowledged her partner publically for the first time.

Why do you seem so angry about it?

Once any famous person comes out of the closet, they are pushed to be poster children, and not all of them feel comfortable in that role. I don't blame her for deciding that her sexual preference wasn't anyone's business but her own. That said, it's still great that she finally came out.

Because I feel that every one deserves privacy, even the socalled celebrities. And I am tired of gossip from every damn disgusting magazine, give me any day of the week. A porn magazine, and I will enjoy masturbating to it, but in reality. Whether they are bi for pay porn models or not. Or they are TS, then they deserve privacy. I have seen so many Danish actors, and I have never approached them for an autograph. Since I feel they deserve not to overrun by people who always want an autograph. Yeah, I admit I have two Stainless Steelrat books signed by Harry Harrison, and yes I got excited about it. But seriously, I feel in some ways bad about me being excited over Harry Harrison, but in reality he is an old man, who feels the Danish language is a beautiful and melodic language. So I just said to him I felt proud when he wrote that in one of his books, in Danish by the way ! ! ! and he has lived in Denmark back when the world was a more peaceful place compared to the world now a days. But still, I feel the famous and the celebrities needs privacy. Something they don´t get at all. Thanks to disgusting people who wants to know who fucks who, and who is in love with whom. I am sick and tired of that. So if you ask me, then I bloody hate those magazines, whether they are called "come out of the closet" gossip magazines. Or what ever.

I saw the news post when it first came out.

I am somewhat mystified by some in the lesbian community being angry that she hasn't fully come out.

A persons private life is just that....private.

If she chooses to come out and be a spokeswoman for the lifestyle...great. If not, then respect her wishes.

Keep in mind that she is just a person....albeit a very talented person. Let her live her life they way she chooses.

I don't remember reading in the lesbian handbook that we are all required to be parade marching, flag waving, in-your-face spokespersons.

To each their own.

Thanks Misty_Morning. Dyke_Writer sounded more like a womens right fighter from the 70´s where every time a woman came out of the closet, then she should be a soldier of the flagbangers and other stuff .

I agree with you completely, everyone deserve their privacy but like I said, she chose to ignore the press and everyone practically begging her to come out, and she chose to publically acknowledge the support of her partner as many other people do, both celebs and non celebs.
In both my working and private life, I have dealt with plenty of famous people and at the end of the day, they're just people living their lives as they see fit and as almost all gay people will know, coming out is about sharing your life and your partner with the people you love, nothing more, its generally not a thing done to shock people.

In this case, I applaud her for having done so well to keep her private life as private as she has!

I agree with this also, but at the end of the day, shes been pressured to reveal her sexuality for many years and hasn't buckled to that pressure so Im sure that if she is indeed pressured to become the poster child for gay rights or whatever and doesn't want to be, she wont be.

Although I do think that a lot of young lesbians, especially those who are outcast moreso than most, will look up to her as she is hugely successful, talented, smart and seems to be a very humble and approachable. A lot of people seem to see their sexuality as a disability, either because of what they've been told growing up or just the social stigmas of those around them so to see such an amazingly talented and sucessful woman in the media spotlight can't hurt, can it?

Dyke_Writer: if you begged me to come out of the in real life closet as a bisexual man. And at the same time I was an actor, then I would go fucking mental on you. And there is no way in bloody hell, I would accept the press socalled begging for to get out of the closet. What the fuck is the matter with you ? if I were famous, and bisexual. And came out, then I would be a victim of GLBT hatred faster than you can learn to say and know what Rødgrød Med Fløde means.

Excuse me? I made no such claim or aimed my original post in that direction, please note this from my original post...

What I was saying is yay, congratulations to her for being brave enough in such a public and harsh position she is in, ie, in the media and hollywood spotlight and for acknowledging her partners support etc throughout their lives together and her career.
I do NOT expect her to wave the flag, lead the Pride march/parade or do anything except to keep making fabulous films and being a wonderful actor.

Firstly, at no point have I expected her to come out, my post didnt say at any point that I wanted her to do so.

Secondly, I dont give a flying fuck who fucks whom, either you, jodie foster, the pope, the president or the little old lady that lives down the road.

Thirdly, why the fuck should I learn what anything in Danish means, since I am neither in Denmark, on a danish board or interested in you trying to insult me because you have taken my post and read more into it than is there.

If you were famous, I think your 'attacking someone for saying something that you read/interpreted differently than meant' thing, would probably be the cause of any hatred towards you, moreso than your sexuality.

the sentence is a Danish Shibboleth

And also the sentence means red porridge with cream. I think in German it called Rotse grotse mit Zarne (my german sucks by the way).

And red porridge is made out of rhubarb , and berries/fruits. And the dish is a "nether german" and Scandinavian dish. Even though the rhubarb variation can maybe be, a mixup of something we call "rhubarb compot" and then the red porridge. Or else there is a southern Zelandian variation with rhubarbs in the red porridge. Which my mom makes, since she is from the Southern Zealand.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denmark

here is the sublink to Zealand

But what made me angry is the whole shebang about her being gay. And you make a thread called "bye bye closet". That is like a red flannel skirt in front of some bulls. Since to me, I feel she should give the finger to the press, and lived happy ever after with her lover, instead of she is now "gay". Whether everybody knew it or not.

Scooby says...rut roh:eek:

I think that a third of the population of the earth would beg to differ. LOL

And that in it's self is laughable.

See, I hold the opinion that should one choose to dovote their life to their religion, specifically Christianity, they should not have to forego other aspects of life.

Now, I am gonna just speak out my ass here....see, I was raised as a fundamental Christian. I never understood the whole "you must be celebate" theory of some Christian denominations in order to serve God. In fact, that was not imposed until the early middle ages.

But, let's take a step back. "Christianity" says that homosexuality is wrong.

Really?

God is omnipotent. Christianity teaches us that he ALREADY knows the outcome of EVERYTHING.

Do you really think that he/she sat back and said...OK....let me impose rules upon these beings that they can never overcome?

He/she made us all.

To say that homosexuality is wrong...is to say that God was wrong in creating us. Does God make mistakes?

I think not.

Man makes mistakes.

No...I don't care who the pope fucks.....but unfortunately...some do. And it's those same narrow minded folks that think I am subhuman because they are worried about who I fuck.

Sorry for the rant...sometimes I just gotta blow of steam.

Misty_Morning: you are smashing great :) :D And when I mention my country, then it is with love. Even when I am getting angry at my own country (when it comes to politicians and so forth). Then I am still loving my little shit country, and yes how can I say that about my own country ?

Well because , it is "MY" country, and I will defend it till the day I die.

I think what we should be all doing in this thread is congratulating her for acknowledging her lover whether she is gay or straight. She has finally had the courage to show the world she isn't ashamed of the one she has chosen to spend her life with. Thats the whole point of coming out is to show the world you care about someone and want to share it with the world. Don't you think it had caused her partner great pain to be hiding in the shadows for 15 years? Think about that. She didn't come out for you or I or anyone of those people that cares. She came out for her partner and noone else.

I agree. If I was to meet a celeb in a bar somewhere, I'd probably be the one just having a friendly chat with the girl (or guy) and end up getting an autograph because I DON'T get all squealy. Someone told me once about this game Michael Jordan played where everyone was all screaming his name and this one kid just said "hey Mike" and he looked over and said hi to the kid. Now that's normal, and I think that was so cool; he didn't pay any attention to all the screaming fans, he just said hi to a kid that said hi to him like he was a person, not a god or something.

But yeah, I tend to agree with what you said; celebs are people too...I mean I don't go announcing my sexuality to everyone I can find. People generally figure out what I am on their own and they don't bother me about it, and yet they go nuts whenever a celeb shows up on the news or in some magazine. Personally, I don't get what's so great about them in that respect, y'know?

I didnt create the shebang, I just found out about it and thought, good on her for being brave enough to acknowledge her partner!! Now, once all the pointless hype about it has died down, she can get on with her life without the media and various other persons questioning her about her private life.

Granted, I should have worded my original post a bit better, probably shoulda said something more in the style of Tymeless but I didnt. However at no point was I saying that I wanted her to come out, I wanted to publically say yay for her for decided to do it. And as far as 'bye bye closet', now that she has decided to come out, she doesn't need to worry about people poking around for the answer to that question. It means, to me, nothing more than she is free to get on with her life without people constantly tryng to find out whats going on behind her closed doors.

Stuponfucious Well, he drives me nuts looks like a boy and does all those funny whiny girl sounds..... Justin, Justine... same difference! :D

Misty_Morning Im not a third of the of the population and I used him as an example, meaning that people, regardless of their position in the world or society can sleep with whoever they want. But yes, I see your point, rant away! :D

"Christianity" says that homosexuality is wrong.
Well since God hasn't struck me down then Im guessing he's not all that worried about it. I think Christians have more of a problem with it than god. Although, at risk of turning this into a religious debate, doesn't God make everyone in his own image?? Just a thought!

I believe her brother wrote a book sometime back and he said he believed she was a lesbian or bisexual. Personally I think it is an actor's own personal business. I care about the product.

They follow celebraties around day and night and report everything that do. Must be hard to have a normal life.

Check this out ladies...

http://www.clublez.com/movies/

It is a interesting data base and not just porn.

Did he, never even knew about it - the book or the brother, I much prefer her work to her bedroom activities.... although if she offered, I wouldn't say no! :D

i always hoped she'd end up with anthony hopkins, you gotta admit the sexual chemistry was tittalating.
