Just out of curiosity, what is the average amount people spend on toys/tools for play maybe per year (just an estimate)? I was just curious.

ummm not too much at all. I think this year..we've spent maybe $100 on toys.. and most of that was on a flogger.

Most of our money goes to airplane tickets and hotel bills...

besides.. other than canes, crops, floggers and paddles.. I dont have any use for toys... dildos and vibrators pretty much cause me to yawn..

This might have been a neat poll for the cafe

I think it probably depends a lot on who you're asking... if you're asking a newb who's serious about what they're doing they're probably going to spend a lot building up their toybags.

My boyfriend just spent a ton on some things he's been putting off until he had someone to use it with, for instance. And now he gets to waste time practicing on (fake) dummies before he works on me! JOKES ON HIM!

i honestly have no idea, but ill bet over the course of the year it adds up. i cant buy any new toys without asking permission first so i havnt really bought much this year but last year we added a lot to our collection.

zero.

I was given my first toy recently, I was told it cost $250.

This year we have spent:

Leather flogger £12 (US$24)
Silicone vibrator £15 ($30)
Candles/wax £10 ($20)
Silicone lube £15 ($20)

I think my biggest single purchase ever was my handcuffs. They are leather with padlock fastenings and a detachable bar that allows them to be unfastened and refastened swiftly. They were £16 ($32).

We do spend quite a bit on underwear for me. Master enjoys it when I wear something new for him and also like buying stuff for me to wear for him. I would imagine that between us we've spent £100 ($200) on lingerie in the last year.

Other toys are improvised e.g. clothespegs on nipples.

From wiki:-
Spanish Coat of Arms

The Pillars of Hercules with "S"-shaped ribbon in the Town Hall of Seville, (Spain) (16th century)The most widely accepted explanation is that the dollar sign derives from the Spanish coat of arms engraved on the Spanish colonial silver coins "Real de a Ocho" ("piece of eight") or Spanish dollar under circulation in the Spanish colonies of America and Asia, as well as in the English Thirteen Colonies and later the U.S. and Canada.

The Spanish coat of arms has two columns (||), which represent the Pillars of Hercules and an "S"-shaped ribbon around each, with the motto "Non Plus Ultra" originally, and later "Plus Ultra".[4]

Thankyou very much Bandelero. Keep forgetting about wiki, I should browse around there more often.

My most expensive item (besides plane tickets) I bought last year was a latex spanking skirt for around $85. I tend to spend the most on clothes and costumes than toys. Daddy wanted to see me in an authentic cheerleader costume 2 yrs ago. I think with the shoes etc it cost around $120.

I spent about $80 on a 100% silicone g-spot dildo about three years ago and I have more than gotten my money's worth. I use it at least 3x a week and it has outlasted any other toy I have bought.

Every year it varies, This year spent about $1200. I just bought a "Smother Box" which cost me $800.

Average year maybe $200 to $400

On toys? Not all that much. On supplies? A bit more. I tend to make my own stuff mostly, so I'm buying materials. In the past year, I probably spent a $100-200 on stuff. That does not include rope. I spent the same amount on rope, and rope supplies like carabiners and such. And that was buying cheap rope.

I was pro for a while. Spending fluctuates according to how much of that I'm doing. Currently none, but I have so much of what I need. I probably could sell some off and be fine.

Not spending so much now, since toybox is well stocked. At first, it was costly, but now, I have what I need and rarely shop anymore. Restocking supplies and pervertables is all I do now.

Not much. Most of the money I spend goes for supplies like condoms, medical gloves, lube, clothepins, etc. I also spend quite a bit on lingerie and footwear, but this kind of expense goes in the 'regular clothing' budget line, as I wear them in 'civil' as well as for play.

About 90% of the bigger items I own, including impact toys, insertables, and fetish clothes, were purchased and offered to me by boys I play(ed) with. I'm spoiled that way.

Usually not much since most of my toys have been supplied over the years. We have a supply of fresh bamboo and have been harvesting, curing and making our own canes. We usually spend a fair amount on gallon size jug of lube (about twice a year) and candle wax. I do need to purchase a new strap on harness - have lost too much weight and can't adjust my current one anymore.

interesting...

That was really informative. So, one I learned that floggers, paddles and the like are not generally considered toys (based on responses) and are most often referred to as supplies. So the responses prompt me to ask another question: who should buy what? If you're a single person do you buy your stuff or do you rely on your partner?

I think you will find what is referred to as 'supplies' is not floggers etc., but the materials required to make them yourself.

oooooh do you have a link? What's the name? I'm pretty sure I need one of those.

Glad to hear you have a G-Spot after your (A&P) repair. I'm not allowed to play in there yet but I'm dying to find out what's going to feel different.

On Topic: We have spent about $500 this year getting started.

Catalina I am sure will weigh in with more links than those following.

How to make a rope flogger

How to make a flogger

How to make your own flogger

Serijules makes some beautiful ribbon floggers, perhaps she might add some commentary as well.

I note some of the links in the threads above have expired, there is still information that is valid contained however.

Best of luck :rose:

I sent you a pm about sex after A&P repair, I didn't want to hijack this thread. I got my silicone dildo from Babeland.

As far as who pays..I buy my own insertables since I never share them with anyone. I buy my own lingerie, shoes etc. I buy things that look interesting to me, he does the same. It is then up to him what is used and what isn't.

Floggers are relatively simple, as rebecca's links showed. Whips are a bit more work, as they require braiding and making weighted bellies, and such. Still doable. after all, somebody makes these things, so why can't you or I make them, right?

In my case, I've made a coupla suede floggers out of thong. Fairly simple arrangement with the falls run through an eyebolt drilled into a wooden dowel. Covered the handle with suede and did some more thong outside for visual accent. I need to go back and redo the endcap as, well, they suck. I want to do turk's head knots, and have been slowly practicing them. One of these days I'll get it to the point where I tie them well enough...
