Wow! You have a FAN!!!

I'm so jealous.... nobody ever wrote to me like that!

(Takes tongue out of cheek!)

(a) Ignore it

(b) Put it up on a public forum so the sender can be humiliated

(c) Send a polite "Thanks, but no." in the sender's native tongue -- chat speak, in this instance, with plenty of smileys.

(d) Send a polite reply in Swahili.

(e) Send a "Fuck off, loser!" reply in either the sender's native tongue or Swahili

(f) Say "Yes." It just might be the start of something beautiful. Then you can write about it for the Valentine's Day contest.

I either ignore it, or if there's a ocmpliment on my writing I say thanks for that and ignore the rest :D

I'm gonig to try Imp option D next time, though :p

I pretty much like to send a polite "Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed the story." note in reply even if the email is kind of over the top, either that or ignore them. I posted a story recently and had a couple of offers from so called "doms" who thought I might like to act out my story, my annoyance there is the assumption that I wouldn't be the one doing the "dominating".:)

Someone thought I was really a woman (aren't you? the guy said) upon reading one of my fireman stories. I was flattered, of course. But he went on to propose this sort of thing, which was less flattering.

I didn't have to think about how to handle it. Because, if I can get hold of a feedback person or commenter (so many are anonymous), I always tell them more about the story, some tidbit of how it came to be. Unless it's just abuse I'm getting; that I handle on its own terms. That's what I always do, so that's what I did that time.

I like Imp's list - :D

The readers who send those expect us to be ready and waiting to chat with them at the moment they choose, almost as if it's a side benefit to one of our stories.

"I just finished ur story and I am SO HARD! Wanna chat?"

So the story got 'em revved up, and now it's up to us as the writer to chat 'em up so they can get off.

Ugh. And Ick.

I thought that was the point of erotica?

Tell them that there is a waiting list of all of your fans, and that you might be able to squeeze them in between (perverted and depraved act here, just to get them riled up even more) and the end of the next century (the end of this one, though over 90 years away, is still too close).

I don't get them as Og.

I do as Jeanne D'Artois. She copies them to Fag-Ash Lil to reply.

Fag-Ash usually deters further correspondence.

Og etc.

A note containing an obscene invitation and/or personal comment like the one in the OP is not praise but a form of aggression. My only modification to Imp's list is to flesh out "ignore" to include "and delete."

I would absolutely never respond to a note like that, because that rewards the aggression no matter what the content of the response (since it's attention that's being sought).

A different type of message is one like the following, which contained some substantive praise of the story plus this: "As to my reaction as I now have read both your 9 pagers about Susan---I masterbated over & over, stopping in each story so as not to cum...until near the end. Then I did with abandon!"

Obviously for a porn writer, that's just another form of praise. This seems to be a healthy male who's enthusiastic about my story and wants to share that. It's sweet, actually, if a bit on the TMI side. :)

If it's really gross, I ignore it. Otherwise, I'll just say "Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it," with appropriate smileys or whatever. They don't generally pursue it after that.

I don't mind the guys who tell me what they do when they read my stories. I do tend to ignore the ones who think I should give them my home phone or address so they can call or visit. But this one piece of feedback really disturbed me:

This message contains feedback for: amybbwred
About the submission: The UPS Guy
This feedback was sent by: Anonymous

Comments:

I hope he finds out and brutally murders you. An edge weapon is always
nice, eat shit and die

I try to respond to feedback with a thank you but occasionally I get one that is just too aggresive so I ignore it. That's why I don't have my e-mail or im on Lit. Then I can choose whether or not to respond.

I find that "O_O Holy cow, thanks!" is a well-received follow-up to some TMI-feedback.

But the most aggressive email I've received has been:

i hate u made me fap for 5 hors i hate uuuu moar pls

My experience with LIT writers is none of them respond to email whether it's complimentary, critical, or poses a question. So I dont fool with it anymore.

Oooh. What does "fap" mean?

I mean, I get the self-loathing because he did some one-handed reading, sure.

And he's directing it at you because he's ashamed. "I hate u"

And he begs for more "moar pls" because he's inherently submissive.

But what is fap?

;)

:D  you guys!

I generally send a little thank you note. This guy, however...I just had to share!

Makes note: Must learn Swahili (a bloke I worked with years ago used to sign all office birthday/wedding/new baby/etc cards in Swahili. And he'd NEVER tell what it said!)

Fap is gamerspeak for masturbating, based on the "noise" a hand can make.

... don't ask me how I know that.
