I must have caffeine in the morning. When I am posting all those pics in my thread mornings know I am working with a cup o' tea (English Breakfast or PG Tipps w/ cream and sugar).

Then it is a cup of coffee in hand as I'm off to work.

In the past I have gone off caffeine only to return once again. Now I fully accept my addiction, in fact I embrace it.

Anyone else need a cup of joe in the morning?

Diet Pepsi Max for me in the morning. Every once in a while, I'll drink a cup of coffee but never first thing.

i need a cup of something.

it used to be a cup of coffee before classes every morning but then i started taking medicine that slows down my heart rate and the extra caffiene seemed couterproductve.

now its a cup of caffiene free tea every morning and it still does the trick.

First thing in the morning: Monster Lo Carb energy drink...yum

during the day (at least 2) vanilla cappuccino

About 6 (after dinner) a second Monster though it's the regular one

Not to mention my many many cups of hot coca in the winter time...

Caffiene does squat for me. It doesn't wake me up or make me sleepy. It's like drinking nothing. I've had a double latte and gone to bed and slept all night. And believe me, it doesn't help me wake up. I wish it did - I'd be addicted. lol

Without coffee I would fall over and die.

Sometimes a special friend delivers my coffee in the morning. The place he buys it from has come to expect his order, a 5-shot xtra large mocha. The baristas know it's not for him, and that he's about to deliver it to a rather unpredictable woman of his acquaintance, one who he dares not approach without this important elixer. Now all the baristas there have taken to calling it a "peacemaker", and asking him, "and did you also need a Peacemaker today?"

The smart ones shove it toward me with the aid of a long stick, as one might feed raw meat to a lion.

After that I'm quite amiable. Before that, the household has named me "Dick". And not in a good way. As in, "honey, are you still Dick or have you had enough coffee for us to talk about the bills?"

I knew I couldn't be the only person in the world who's like this. I mainline Dr. Pepper, but only because I like the way it tastes. I could drink a whole two liter and go to bed. :p

Malin will attest..that I'm barely something one would call human until I've had some form (preferrably coffee) of caffeine in the morning

*shrug* Coffee I can live without. Keep me from my hot shower? That's a stabbin.

Food/drink -wise, so long as I get a mess of protein (eggs, protein shake, etc) I'm golden. Some mornings I'll grab a soda of some sort, but that's it really.

i got my younger brother a hat last year that said "caffinated, not motivated"

unless I am on intestinal death's door or something, yes, the day starts with coffee.

I have a cousin like that, too. But other than her, you're the first person like that. I used to drink Pepsi like it was the elixer of life, but since the crohns and all I don't drink much of it - it makes me feel pretty crappy. Now I drink iced tea (unsweetened - it's the sugar that my stomach doesn't like) like it's the elixer of life. I drink probably 4 to 5 glasses a day,on average, and it doesn't cause any sleeping problems. And black tea, if properly prepared, has more caffiene in it, per ounce, than a regular cup of coffee.

I don't often drink coffee but when I do it's fresh brewed in my dinky little expresso pot. I truly do not understand the Starbucks tradition of ordering coffee by the bucket. I like a small, strong cup with cinnamon on top.

I prefer tea (being British) with milk and can drink that until about 6pm. If I drink anything with caffeine in after that I'll find it hard to sleep. I drink a lot of squash and water too for hydration.

Master never drinks coffee or tea. He doesn't like the taste and sticks to squash or fruit juice instead. Wierdo that he is.

I need two very strong and very large cups of coffee before I get out of bed.

I have gone only one day in my adult life without coffee. And that day involved rectal surgery.

Hard to say which was worse.

I wonder why they call it a cup of "joe"?

BBC said:
In 1914, the secretary of the US Navy, Admiral Josephus 'Joe' Daniels abolished the officers' wine mess. From that time on the strongest (and apparently therefore the drink of choice) on board navy ships was coffee. It was dubbed 'a cup of Joe' after the secretary.

'A cup of Joe' also refers to the GIs' favourite drink. During World War II the US defence workers were supplied with as much coffee as they wanted. Coffee was a source of warmth and comfort for battle-weary troups.
The slang was popular enough to be included in the Reserve Officer's Manual of 1931.
A variation on this theme has it that Joe refers to the average Joe, thus making 'a cup of Joe' the average drink of the average man.

This seems to be the most widely held reason why it's called a cup of Joe.

I am a morning coffee junkie. I've gone a day or so without every once in a while, but there's nothing better than a hot fresh brewed cup of black coffee in the AM.

Latte for me....but usually only one or two a day.

and I enjoy a nice cup of Rosie Lee strong with milk. Builders tea we call it lol

As with everything in life I am very eclectic with my drinks.
By the kettle is a shelf, on that shelf is Sir's pot of one particular brand of granulated, caffeinated coffee; it has to always be made in the exact same way, but he will drink it all day every day.
I on the other hand take up the rest of the shelf witth several varieties of tea, caffeinated, decaf, green, fruit... and a packets of ground coffee. My other necessities include the filter coffee machine and the tea pot. I crave whatever the drink is at that time and I need the variety or I get bored...too much of anything is not a good thing...
First thing in the morning it is invariably a cup of caff tea with the merest smidgen of skimmed milk, last thing at night it will be the same but decaff. Coffee is a daytime drink to be enjoyed whereas tea is a fuel....

I can't believe I have just expounded so much on the simplest thing...I think I may need to get a life:eek:

Part of my issue with coffee is that it gives me heartburn. Ugh.
