First off, Hi! I'm Jet, and I'm new.
I've been writing on and off for the past 5 years, and I finally summoned up the courage to go "public" with my work. There is a problem though... I'm finding it incredibly difficult to find "any" editors/beta readers/etc.
Now, Literotica has a function to find editors, but I find it lacking, as nearly all of these people "last updated" years ago, and sending duplicate requests is a long and tedious process (750 potential people
), with so much effort being wasted on inactive people (I'm assuming there inactive, there's the possibility I could be mistaken of course.)
So, is there a forum or thread or something somewhere that could help me? I find I get discouraged and lose the will to write if I don't have some feedback from friends, but... I'm also kinda hesitant to send an Incest erotica to friends who know and speak with my family, heh, especially when some facts of the story could.. uh.. be true.. >_>'
Wow. Blushing red.
Aaaanywho. Basically, the more input I have from others, the better I write and the more often I write. I consider myself pretty fair at it, I AM a hopeless romantic after all ^^ On a scale of 1-100, I'd say my skills at storytelling are in the.. oh... 70 range. But if I were to say the same about grammar and the finer points in writing, that's probably somewhere in the 20's or 30's.
And while I can tediously edit my own work, I find myself stuck in a revision loop. Read story, correct grammar, change adjective, re-write sentence, re-write paragraph.... rewrite chapter. Go to step one. Over and over. And I get burned out.
Now, with friends/editors/beta readers, it goes like this. "Write story, send, receive input, change certain parts, finish." Not to mention the feedback and review I get from the story, which gives me some sorta strange writing... energy or something.
Gah. I'm ranting >.> This was suppose to be a simple post. Basically, I need a more effective way of finding editors, that would be great.
Thanks for the help ^_^
