Not passing judgment, just curious. I don't care if you vote with your regular person or your alt or what. I have never felt the need to have an alt but it seems many people do and I am just wondering how many people do.

Woohoo! First responder!

Yep, I have/had an alt. I created it to wander around here when I was deciding whether to seek to come back or not. It's still alive, though I haven't posted under it in quite a while. Funny thing is, I don't think anyone who wasn't told who it is has figured it out yet, despite the fact that I didn't bother to change my mode of posting, etc. - just didn't do my "trademark" navy coloring of the text.

No i do not, because if i cant say it with this name; i am not being truthful to myself or anyone else.:rose:

I wanted to make a sock puppet called "my right tit" and argue with it, but then I thought "shit, I have no life" and didn't.

But you could have made two - "my right tit" and "my left tit" - and had them argue with each other! :D

Haha, talking body parts, the trend here for winter 07 indeed!

No alts, but I seriously thought about "Homburg's Cock" or something similar for that thread that DB started. In the end it just would not have been convenient, as the arguments would've taken multiple log-ins and post. Ugh. I'm too lazy for that.

In general though, as dove said above, if it isn't something I'm willing to say as Homburg, I don't need to say it. An alt produced purely for humour (such as Homburg's Cock or Netzach's Right Tit example) is fun, but an alt produced as a sociopolitical mouthpiece? No thanks.

I never had an alt with this site. Saw no need to create another one when I am quite happy with the current one! :D

Nope, no alt. I don't mind the humorous ones, like Homburg said. Or the ones which are sort of nomme de plumes, like I know someone who posts poetry under a different nick than they post here with. They've posted in the poetry discussion forum, but not anywhere else.

The cock puppets, er sock puppets and ones created to annoy others with are a bit juvenile. Still, I find it amusing when someone makes them (it's usually posting style that gives them away) and they scream and holler and rant and rave that "it's not me!".

I can get changing because of a stalker or basically because you've not posted in forever, and can't remember your password. But still, most of those folks admit what's going on.

I created one for stories and poems. I don't really need an alt to post under because I'm so nice and never piss anyone off.

It's a grande thing that we are all so different.
I've said a LOT of things under many other names while remaining truthful. :rose:

If I am my alt, is it still my alt?

I came to lit under another account. Back then I was the happy little house wife, I was also timid and very prudish. I started this account to post pics as I was starting on my journey of personal discovery. It's an interesting thing really. The more...in tune...with myself I became, the more I started posting under this account instead of the other. Those who have met me say that this persona fits me better now, and I tend to agree.

I don't post under my original account anymore, but I do use it for writing under.

I am guilty ... you got it out of me ... Etoile.

I confess.......

I have needed to use an ALT in the past to post on Lit. I feel no guilt, no remorse. Will do it again too, .......if the desire or need shall ever tempt me.

That's like an imaginary friend, no? Mine doesn't post here though.

A sock puppet, to me, is a special kind of ALT that one develops to argue with ones other ALT or primary ID.

So sort of a paid heckler you make yourself.

No alt, I already had enough trouble finding an acceptable, subtle, dominant name.

I'm with Homburg and dove. I've never felt the need for an alt. I say what I have to say as me.

i used to be PreggoHottie...so i guess HM is my ALT.

i also have another name that i recently created because i am strongly considering dumping HottieMama. As of right now it has zero posts, i still haven't made a final decision.

I have an actual sock puppet. Does that count?
I don't argue with him, though. We agree on nearly everything.

I do not have an alt. I am an alt.

Seriously, though, as a writer I have a couple of alts because there are things that I am comfortable letting my real-life friends read and some other things that I don't necessarily think would be ...to their tastes.

Wasn't that just a name change though, not an actual separate account? I thought you had the PreggoHottie changed to HottieMama by the admins. It is possible to have a name changed, you don't HAVE to create a new account if you don't want to!

I am also the type where if I can't say it with this name, I just don't say it at all. So just because I'm not snarky very often doesn't mean I'm not thinking it in my head, I just don't post it!
