When is two inches too much to handle?

Sorry for the threadjack, but saying Hi to a fellow Carolinian. I tried to do this via PM, but you don't have that enabled, Desert Pirate. So, HI!

My sister has had two days off of school because of the ice. They actually could have gone today but their principal is a wuss when it comes to snow and ice. She's been home all day trying to steal my lap top and using up all her minutes on her cell phone. Now she's bitchin about being bored. Please God and the iceman...let there be school tomorrow!

sarahhh! You made it darlin'. :rose:

I guess the worst is over.

Did you lose power for long?

Those are some pretty pictures you posted.

I can remember ice storms in Atlanta in March--coverin' all the new leaves and flowers.

I remember living in Iron Mountain and watching the snow fall on my apple tree when it was in full blossom. We had a foot of snow come down on Mother's day that year. It was beautiful and cold.

There are thousands around us without power. We got lucky.

Power only flickered on and off a few times. Ticked off the kids because they were trying to unlock a new song in the Dance Dance Revolution game (and there had to be a certain number of songs in a row)- but we were pretty spoiled today.

:)

Nothing wrong with being a little spoiled ;)

All the reports I've heard is that the storm is heading northeast and losing strength. As TE said, looks like the worst is over.

Woot! They just canceled school again today!

The roads aren't that bad so I have a feeling it is a power outage issue. We are part of a fairly large district (3 high schools, 6 middle schools, 25 elementaries) so if the majority do not have power it would make sense to shut things down.

Yea us! Some house cleaning, some more laundry, some more nap and playtime for mommy and daddy . . .

We can decorate the Christmas tree today!

(I will, however, studiously ignore the Today Show. Ahem.)

:):)
Sounds fun and those are lovely photos hon:) I think we are finally getting are icy cold snap. Today my car doors were frozen shut and we got the ice off the outside of the windshield and found the inside had iced as well:rolleyes:

I hate that.

We only have a one car garage so we knew the cars would get hammered. We covered the windshields with plastic at least but I just peeked outside at 'em. Ugh. They're a solid sheet.

It will take some time, some heated ice scrapers, and some ice melt in a can until we find the vehicles beneath the ice.

Such a pain. We put aside about twenty minutes this morning just to get the cars ready but now there is no rush.

:D
Here in the middle of NC it will be 79 today, goofy weather :D
I'd sure like some of the rain, without ice please :D
We are only a foot+ behind for the year :(
Glad things are holding up for you SSS :p

Glad to hear you're still doing well. Power outages are the worst. Here in NC, we occasionally go a few weeks without power due to a hurricane. Staying warm in an outage is the pits, though, especially with kids around.

They didn't cancel school here!!! Yay!!! the kid might get to live another day!!!!

Lovely pictures. :)

Wait until spring. Then you'll find just how much lumber your trees shed. Gathering it all up is great exercise. ;)

For the kids. :D

I remember living in Iron Mountain and watching the snow fall on my apple tree when it was in full blossom. We had a foot of snow come down on Mother's day that year. It was beautiful and cold.

In 1982 it snowed a foot on April 15th, in Las Cruces, NM!
That was the start of 4 very wet years out there where 7 inches a year is the norm :D
82 - 86 averaged almost 12, refilled all the lakes, erased the water debt to TX Great times :D

Glad you're hanging in there Sarahh. Saw it on our national news last night, looked nasty.
