Trapped in my Skin!

On the other hand there is, apparently, now an option to delete posts... I say we start with Scouries...

Okay, I'm using Safari. So far....

1) Like Slyc, I have to keep logging on, EVEN when I click on the "remember me" option. The darn site has Alzheimer's when it comes to me.

2) I can't multi-quote. That option just doesn't work.

3) Advanced search function for stories doesn't work.

:p phooey

How to fix it;

1) go to www.firefox.com

2) download and install.

3)stop wasting your internet time with Safari. :D

4) While you're at it, download the "adblocker plus' addon for firefox. I can't praise this program highly enough! :rose:

Also an option to "report posts!" Nice.

Cool. Click on the multi-quote tab on the ones you want to quote then the main quote button on one of them (the bttom?).

Now I'll try to find the delete post button. (Using Firefox and aria chocolate skin - didn't like the carbon from chlorophyll change)

I don't see that you can actually delete posts. The link says "edit/delete' but when you get there, the delete option is still not active. I don't know why Manu doesn't allow deletes, maybe a database issue? This site must be right on the edge of overload, all the time. PHP databases aren't really meant to handle this kind of volume, as far as I know.

I don't see a delete either. In fact, mine just says 'edit' like always. I thought I saw it yesterday, though things were changing left and right for awhile so I might have imagined it. As far as overload, sounds like more upgrades to come.

I say this with love: :p

:D

Safari is really not the best browser out there... Considering that so many sites are built of Explorer, and don't work with Safari. Firefox supports all IE protocol, and constantly upgrades to accommodate any new standards the World Wide Web Consortium publishes.

And ever since I added adblocker, I've been living in an internet world free of horrible animated banners, talking ads, slow page loads. Livejournal looks like it did in the days whan it was ad-free. Even myspace is useable again!

User Delete is disabled because deleting a post also deletes every post threaded to it (as shown in thread disply mode) That means that the auto-promotion function can be turned into a an "auto-demotion" function if someone's post-whoring to get an avatar (for example) all happens to be threaded to one post.

It's an old problem, and I think this version of vBulletin can be configured to allow deletions without deleting threaded posts -- I know it can be configured to allow deletion of anything except the first post of a thread -- but it's kind of a Lit tradition now, so I don't think it's worth changing.

Easy deleteions would take away that sense of danger and doom that we love so well *nods*

Too many Belgian beers probably.:cattail:

I fitted in Jeanne's skin yesterday.

I couldn't do it today because I went to my first Christmas lunch this year - turkey and the trimmings followed by Christmas Pudding and Mince Pie.

I need to go for a long walk before going to bed or else my tummy will complain all night.

For my wife it was the first Christmas meal of four - this week. This morning she was celebrating another two pounds of reduced weight. This afternoon she's not going near the bathroom scales.

How is the multi-quote button supposed to work?

It threw me out and said I had to go to the main forums, is scouries behind it?

As you read through a thread, click on the multi-quote button of each post you'll want to reply to.

When you get to the end of the thread or to a post you want to reply immediately to, click the quote button of the post or the Reply button of the thread -- each post you tagged will be quoted in the order that you tagged them.

You can edit them down tothe relevant bits in each quote as long as youdon't mess up the quote tag pairs or the square brackets that delimit them.

Can't get it to work, not with Safari or FireFox.

It might be the skin you're useing... I'm noticing that not every feture works in every skin...

I'm using Aria Carbon. When I click on the multi-quote button it turns red... yesno?

Try it in the "vBulletin 3 default" or "Aria Carbon" skins and if it doesn't work for you in those, then there's probably a glitch in your cookie permisssions -- each time I use the feature, it sets a temporary cookie to keep track of what's tagged.

The same in vBulletin 3 Default -- click it again and it untags it and turns it back to "blue" (in this skin.)

I wish once I chose a skin it would stay that way. :(

Go to your UserCP/Edit Options -- at the very bottom of the page is where youset your default skin -- the skin that it should go to when you log in or are reset back to your default.

vBulletin can force a forum to use the same skin for everybody, overriding your curren selection AND your default, but I don't know of any forums LIt has forced that way.

Oh, my. Firestorm hurts my eyes. I thought it would be festive for Christmas, but it's really 'glare-y.'

Why is there only one new smilie? Can't we get new smilies in the new upgrade?:(

I just read Manu's post and figured it out already. Thanks though. :)
