It's still the Sun.

More and more evidence mounts that it's the Sun that's driving climate change, not man and/or CO2.

Anyone else noted that now the homopogenic crowd is prognosticating an ice age? It's going to "get colder because it's getting warmer." Of course, this too is the fault of man to that crowd despite the fact that there is little correlation between temperature and CO2 concentration.

Here's another article based on scientific papers that sheds more light, no pun intended, on the subject.

Read the Sunspots

Lots of useful and interesting links in the article.

Is that the article from the finacial news? I was going to lead with it...

:D

The Financial Post. Get up earlier. :)

Post, I fucked up. ;) ;)

Uh, Plasma, it's not HIS theory we are discussing. It's science. Read the report, it tells us what we already know, the earth is a chaotic system, not a stable state. Not only can you not hold it at an optimal global temperature, you cannot define the optimal global temperature. It's always been adapt or die, and it still is.

There is more than one school of thought if it is not to be religion or as Crichton put it, the politico-legal-media complex (PLM) that replaced the Cold War fears with new-age fears in order to control the behaviour of the masses and strip them of their hard-earned money to throw away on junk science. If you deny that there is nothing but Man-MAde Global Warming, then you deny Science.

Sunspots do not cause climate change, say scientists:Key claim of global warming sceptics debunked

Another cherished Ishmael talking point goes down in flames (pun intended)

Man, he reads one thing and thinks, MAN!

I'm as educated as a scientist now!!!

I got the word of a true believer that the deniers are WRONG!!!

Anthropogenic. (Greek roots, not Latin.)

. . . is prognosticating an ice age? It's going to "get colder because it's getting warmer."

Not that I've seen. Cite?

From what I've read, there might be localized ice ages as a result -- e.g., if GW disrupts the Gulf Stream, which it might, that could make Europe colder. New York and Rome are on about the same latitude, but New York is colder than London. Without the Gulf Stream, Northern Europe would have the same climate as Russia.

Yeah boy, powerful research from Sallie Baliunas and Willie Soon, research funded almost entirely by the American Petroleum Institute.

Tell us next how smoking cigarettes is actually good for us, AJ!

Holy shitting Christ. Inhofe is still citing those two?

My problem with climate change is that it has been hyjacked by the politicians. The scientists now have to tote the party line. More often than not climate change is a chance to tax us more or create headlines to win votes.

Furthermore any attempts to question the established theories are rubbished and discounted out of hand by the scientific community (who derive funding from where?). Read below an example of scientist vs the state, on this occasion the Catholic Church.

In the spring of 1633, Galileo Galilei, an Italian scientist, was delivered before the dreaded Roman Inquisition to be tried on charges of heresy. He was denounced, according to a formal statement, "for holding as true the false doctrine . . . that the sun is the center of the world, and immovable, and that the earth moves!" The statement went on to read that "the proposition that the sun is the center of the world and does not move from its place is absurd and... heretical, because it is expressly contrary to the Holy Scripture!" Galileo was found guilty and forced to renounce his views. Ill and broken in spirit, he was sentenced to a life of perpetual imprisonment and penance.

Not saying it is a conspiracy just that any scientific theory is only valid until a better one is found. Currently the scientific community does not understand climate change and has no statisfactory models to predict. The politicians understand even less.

Is climate change cyclic, ie a natural process? I also believe that the solutions will only come from a combination of science and economics.

That's enough from me, phew....

Anyone hear how Algore was busted for telling a big fucking lie?

We'll be out of oil by 1960 - oops I mean 1970 - make that 1980....

Oil is running out faster than we thought.

There is an ice age coming.

There is a shortage of toilet paper.

Guns cause crime.

The earth could reverse it's polarity any day now.

The oceans will soon become too salty so support life.

The moon will soon fall out of the sky causing a shortage of green cheese.

Women and minorities affected the most

How many times has the earth come to it's end in the last century or so?

Why worry with emissions targets for 2020, the world ends in 2012.

Everybody Party!!!!!
