Very well said and understandable.I did post this on Kits thread but I feel like itās necessary to leave it here too.
I want to touch on something Iāve spoken about MANYY times before, regarding engagement on threads run by us girls⦠because itās become increasingly noticeable over time. Whatās being discussed reflects a far broader shift in how interaction seems to function on Lit now.
Iāve noticed this both on my own thread and more broadly across the entire site. When I first joined last February, most threads, even Am Pics⦠(I know crazy right? Nudes AND intellectual conversation?) felt like spaces for conversation.
There were busy threads such as Boobs Butts and Bedlam that would be POPPING all hours of the day and night. Users would drop in to talk about sex, debauchery, books, films, ideas, life⦠and engagement didnāt hinge so heavily on visual content (sexual or not).
Itās especially noticeable when you look back at older threads and compare them to now, even scrolling back and to the beginning of this here thread. Posts that invite discussion or reflection often receive very little response, while naughty, or not so naughty images generate a pretty immediate interaction. That isnāt a criticism of anyone in particular, but it is a bit disheartening if youāre someone who enjoys actual dialogue, reading word-based interactions, especially genuine back-and-forths, and engaging in conversations and discussion. Iāll also say that via DM, many users (in my experience) send longer messages of concern or agreement when Iāve voiced my views about the way engagement seems to skew toward images, but thatās a separate conversation entirely.
You can see the contrast in engagement clearly when multiple images are posted and activity spikes, compared to days where there might be one or two photos followed by genuinely interesting, engaging prompts, lists of books, movies, series being watched, or questions that invite discussion⦠and the response is minimal, often limited to the same two or three regular contributors. That difference really does feel like tangible evidence of how interaction here has shifted quite significantly.
As Iāve said before, this certainly isnāt a value judgement about individual behaviour, but itās understandable that such a dynamic would feel discouraging for those who are here not just to post or consume images, but to have intellectual or conversational exchanges.
For what itās worth, for me anyway, posts where people share their interests and thoughts are the ones that give the clearest sense of who they are, and theyāre the kind of contributions that made this space feel engaging and worth returning to. I hope there remains room, and appetite for that kind of participation, because it adds far more depth than fleeting interaction ever could.
If Iām being totally honest, I donāt really have the patience or inclination to wait out quieter days and then post a run of photos purely to spark engagement. That approach just doesnāt feel natural to me. Iām much more interested in sharing thoughts, ideas, or conversations as they come.
And I think thatās where the frustration sits for me: itās hard to feel motivated to share parts of myself visually when thereās so little engagement with what I share intellectually and I think the same goes for others!
