Well hell, Rightguide decided to take his meds on schedule today and turned in a coherent argument. The idea that “WW3 is already underway” is dramatic overreach built on selective history and cyclical theories that predict conflict because they "want" to see patterns, not because the world is actually following them. The Spanish Civil War analogy also crumbles: that conflict featured great-power militaries directly intervening, deploying troops, aircraft, and officers on the battlefield. Today, no major power is fighting Russia directly, and China is not sending divisions, aircraft, or commanders to Ukraine.
The “rise and fall of great powers” narrative is also being misapplied. China is a demographic implosion wrapped inside a fragile financial bubble, an aging dictatorship, and a shrinking labor force, not an unstoppable challenger positioned to topple a global power. The U.S. remains the world’s dominant military, technological, and naval power with unmatched alliances, wealth, resources, and geographic insulation. That's what you call structural advantage, not decline.
And the argument that Trump “caused” Ukraine to turn away from the U.S. or “guaranteed” Europe will abandon America is fantasy, Europe is militarizing because of Russia, not because of Trump, and Ukraine’s orientation is being determined by its survival, not sentiment.
Well done, my boy.
