I entered two poems into the winter contest and copied and pasted the winter holiday 2025 text into the textbox to be certain I didn't mess it up before submitting. Now I see they are publishing tomorrow and therfore aren't registering as for the contest. Anyone have experience or know what to do to fix it?

When you say "text box". do you mean the same box that your story text is in?

The "Winter Holidays 2025" notice needs to be in the Note To Admin box

You did just motivate me to double check both to be sure though. That wouldn't be a good ending or beginning to these poems lol

The themed contests are for prose. Poetry usually gets rejected on those grounds when entered in the contest. Not sure why Laurel went ahead and published them.

I honestly assumed since there was an audio category, poetry was there, too, but this would make sense and explain why I could never find my poem on the list of Halloween contest entries no matter how many times I refreshed...

I don’t see any reason not to publish them and just not include them on the list.

But, as with so many issues lately, a note of explanation would have been nice.

Oh, they are being published, it's just going to be published tomorrow when the contest doesn't start until the 11th so I expected a later publication date. I just didn't realize that these poems (and the one I wrote for the Halloween Contest) weren't going to "count" so to speak.

At this specific moment for Literotica, I'd say one should be happy that their stories, or poems, are being published so quickly, or even at all. ;)

But yes, a notification for authors would have been nice, even if Lit is notorious for not giving them.

Oh, I'm absolutely excited they are being published. It just makes me wonder if I should take the third one (which is based off of a song like one of the ones going up tomorrow) and try to actually record the song and hope that maybe the alternate lyrics are compelling enough to get over the fact that my singing voice is not professional grade.

Can you pull back something that already has a "to be published" date by editing it? I just realized I could record one of the others that has a published date as well and it would be a fun one to publish (a take on the 12 days of Christmas) and submit as audio a little later in the month, even if it doesn't count for the contest.

Or am I too late?

Not sure why they stopped rejecting them with the themed contests are for prose reason. I know they used to, because people have mentioned the rejection in the contest threads before. Of course, if that was just part of the standard cut-n-paste rules page for the various contests, that would be helpful as well. Some would still miss it, but at least it would be there to point at.

I wouldn't. It's possible it would disappear into limbo.

Write another story is always my advice, don't futz with the last one. That way you've got more stories, which is what gets you more readers.
