The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

It’s a weird state… but a really good one! (Also too expensive…)

But with one of the best magazines - Weird NJ!

Yea. I couldn’t afford the taxes.
Weird or not, I believed those stories. So much so even Boardwalk Empire seemed real. Interesting Gillette was new during prohibition. Women were just figuring out to shave their legs!
The women, Jersey Girls, good catholic girls of south Jersey were also something special. Not to be crude, but so many naturally large breasts. They all loved their dads and grandads. Knew the words to Blue Moon or that one about under a silvery moon, more than one lullaby. Lines from old movies like they had lived them. And could make a visit to the shore seem like traveling back in time. Always making sure there was an outdoor shower before renting the house. They all had something different they cooked when it snowed. And oh yea. They knew how to cook!
I enjoyed the creatures in the water there too. Fresh water fish had teeth there. In August there were never seen insects that showed up. I called them dinosaur bugs. Some were colorful some had horns. But only in August.
Liked living amongst the revolution too. Here there is some civil war history but that is largely concealed now. In Jersey I lived below the Mason Dixon line. Living in south Jersey and a little time west of Philly I learned all the history they tried to reach us in high school. So interesting you could see and touch it everywhere. Even in heavily populated Marlton if you could find a place to park there was a wooded lot where you could attend as a friend to Quakers. Like real church without a church. On the Main Line it was a bit more formal but still ever present.
Jersey knows where it came from. I hope they know where they are going.

I recently read an article about sleep habits before we had electric lights. It was often the case where humans would go to sleep at sunset then wake around 2-3 am. They would tend to the fire and other tasks and back to bed for sleep. The modern 8 hours of continuous sleep is not normal!

I feel better knowing waking at 2-3 is normal 😂. We are normal 2 -3 am club!

Even a mis-timed or a bad cup of coffee is a good cuppa coffee!
There was a time I could have coffee before I went to bed and still sleep. Not anymore. Now I have to stop at noon or I wake up in the middle of the night. I do that anyway but if I have a late coffee it takes forever to get back to sleep and I need my beauty sleep!

Today was a good day.

Started off with a hare brained scheme with a friend. We’ll see how it shakes out.

But I got an early start and got the solar kiln almost all the way framed out. I’m certainly not an expert carpenter, and I’m sure some of you may find fault with how I’m building it, but I feel pretty good about it.

when I got to a stopping point, I split some firewood and then went up into the woods to see what kind of havoc this week’s wind did on the ash trees. Took two pretty good ones down. They were across the trail and as I tried to clear it, I realized that one of them had a huge poison ivy vine going up the side.

I’m super allergic, but chainsaw it very carefully use an ax to strip it off the trunk. It had a shit load of little branches coming off, and I know that the roots have the most concentrated oil.

As soon as I was done, I stripped off my clothing and washed it and took a shower.

Then an early fire , dinner and now watching the World Series. Go Jays!

Pro Carpentry Tip: measure the diagonals of those walls and make certain they are equal and then nail a diagonal brace securely from each corner to the top plate to keep the walls square until you get them sheathed. If you're using plywood or OSB sheathing, just nail fuck outta it to maintain the squaritybits. If you're using spunkboard or something else, plan to let in some one-by material or get steel straps and nail them to the 2x4s before sheathing. Your shit will look moar gooderer and last longerer, too.

Most of mine are automatic. I hate this time of year

I used to hate this weekend. From now until the solstice, my mood would get darker, too. Now I know that it's just stuff and it ain't the rest of my life. And that Spring is coming.

2020 had the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction thingie and that was pretty fuckin' cool.

YAY!🥳 I'm all about Christmas!🎄 I spent today cleaning off shelves and other spaces so my village can go up! 🤶🎄🎅

I had an ex (fascinating woman, including how very moody she could be) who had an elaborate Xmas Tiny Village that she would set up in her dining room every year.

She never did anything else in that room except store her dining room furniture.

My only regret? Not tying her nekkid arse to the dining room table.
