Curiously, I only learned about 'charlie horse' for the first time on Sunday evening. And here we are. Weird.Apropos of nothing much, there is a general rule in life that whenever you learn a new word, it's suddenly everywhere. I learned 'Charlie Horse' just yesterday from my daughter's clearly American reading textbook and had to go look it up for her. It's not the first time this has happened to me. Earlier this year I learned the word Nyotaimori - the Japanese practice, not often actually done, of eating sushi off a naked person's body - from a story I was beta-reading. Later that week my own story was published just above a completely different story with Nyotaimori as its single word title.
