Trump isn't the owner. He's just the current tenant. That's why he has to go through the national capital planning commission, which he apparently hasn't.

Anyway, thanks for mentioning President Truman. He was insistent that as little damage be done to the structure as possible. So much so, that when large heavy machinery was needed for the structural repairs, and workers wanted to dismantle an outer doorway, Truman had them break the equipment down into parts, take them through the door and reassemble them inside instead.

Apparently Trump the "builder" is even less competent than Trump the "executive"!

He has accepted donor money, but why has it been offered? It's bribe money. Offers have been made and deals made. Just as Harman donated fancy holidays to Supreme Court Justices in return for decisions in his favor, Trump has offered tax breaks or something similar to each and every one of those companies. Presumably they won't be hanging their name on advertizing banners across the gold domes, so it's cash-for-cash benefits.
