Anyone from the UK?

Days like today make me glad I work in a windowless office. Dark and very overcast here.
 
This storm followed exactly the same track as the one in October 1987 until it approached the French coast southwest of the Channel Islands. There the older one suddenly veered northeast, taking everyone by surprise, whilst this one carried on into the Pas de Calais.
 
Was that the famous Michael fish I see no hurricane (sorta)?

Yes, the force 11 storm that only reached force 12 for 10 minutes as it passed Lowestoft. Nowhere in Essex, Kent, Sussex or Surrey was it that strong. I lived in Croydon at the time and saw the pre-closedown forecast just after midnight. My only thought about it when I woke for a nocturnal wander was, "Hmm, it  is a bit breezy tonight."
