Series stuck in moderation

Hello everyone. Been looking for a while as where to post this because it doesn't seem to be a perfect place for this. Sorry if it's misplaced.

So I've only published two stories, from the same series. I've created my series first (still non completed if that's important) and then added the stories. Stuck in moderation for like 2 weeks. Then I edited it, just added one period in the description, just to see if it bumps it or anything. Still moderation pending.

Deleted the whole thing and made a new one, then added my two stories. Still in moderation.

Is there something wrong with my way of making it ? My stories went through like a breeze and my series isn't much more than that.
Manual sorting (other options are greyed out), stories perfectly named. no illustration, etc. idk what to do.
Or is it just that there is no one to check those atm ?

Any advice ?

Manual series creation takes a while to approve. A few of mine have taken a month. One took about three months, but that was because I forgot to click "submit"; once I did that, it only took a month. :)

Yeah I double checked that, it's been submitted. otherwise it wouldn't be showing "pending moderation." But I have no idea how to make an automatic one tho

If your stories are numbered "chapter 1", or "ch. 1", or "part 1", or anything like that, the system will automatically create the series. If I remember rightly, it did this even when my first story didn't have "ch. 1" but the second one did.

Story Title
Story Title Ch.02
Story Title Ch.03

or

Story Title - Annie
Story Title - Beth
Story Title - Charlie

will activate the auto-sequencing algorithm. It's an alphanumeric sort, building off the common text.

You could try sending a private message to Laurel to see if that nudges her to investigate things for you. However, as others have said, edits to or resubmitting a pending story sends it to the back of the line.

I no longer submit stories by chapters or parts, but when I did, I waited until the story was complete and submitted the pieces one right after another. They would get released on the site day after day until all were posted.

I do have two series of stories (which I define as unique, standalone stories with a common theme, or characters - different than chapters of the same story), which I let the automatic series feature handle initially and then went into the manual mode to rearrange the order in one case. The time to publish these series stories was no different than any others I submitted; just a few days.

“Pt”, “Bk”, and I think “Vol” are variations that work too, with or without dot, as well as just numbers alone. Zero-prefixing is advised because the site doesn’t use natural sorting, just regular alphanumeric one.

It's already named like this. In fact, the editors renamed my first chapter so it fits this format and I named my second the same way. Yet, nothing triggered.

Maybe I should delete my manual series for it to work?

Don't touch anything, give it time. The manual Series function always takes a while to get it over the line. Two or three weeks, sometimes.

Leave it be until every chapter is posted, and then if you need to do the manual resequencing, have another go. The manual system is not super intuitive, it took me several goes to fix up a series that got cocked up.

I had my series have a title, like a book title. And then all of my chapters had different titles, but they said chapter 1, chapter 2. As a result, a default series was appearing called “chapter.” I deleted it. My actual series that I was trying to create manually is still pending.

Looking back, I’m trying to see if I’ve ever seen a manual series that has a title and then the chapters have different titles.

I’m considering dumping it all and starting over as well, doing “Title of Story: Chapter 1 as well. The title of the series had kind of a long name which is why I didn’t do it.

I have several Series like that, using the Manual build function.

If you sort by "newest", you'll see there are two Series right at the top, with a single story in between.

You have to be patient though, because for some reason the series build goes off to the site for a check. Don't keep forever trying something different though, that won't do anything.

I'm not going to try to paste the entire series page, but my original series (The Friends) did this, and it bounces between E&V, EC and GS for categories, so it hits all the series oddities. I did get one nasty comment that the stories weren't named to make it obvious that they were chapters. It's 21 stories all told.

If you choose to try to read it, the first story is very different from the others -- it was the first fiction I had written in fifty years and I really didn't know what I was doing. And I had not written it to be the start of a series.

How long did it take for them to approve it?
I just had a series approved (last week?) it took about 5 weeks, which was longer than that original series. I assume it dropped in priority when so many stories were getting tsuck, but it is more like edit approval than story approval.

As others have noted above, there are plenty. I even have a series called "One-Off Artsy Stuff", where I put my more experimental writing. Completely unrelated stories with unrelated titles.
I think I would be OK with it except that I titled every chapter: chapter 1, chapter 2. And so every time I upload a new one it tries to create a series. I would like to go back and retitle all of my stories but once they are live on the site I can’t figure out how to edit them. I was told I could after publishing but I’m not sure if they realized I was actually asking once they were live.

My manually-generated "Annie Rocks" series (three stories, sequels instead of chapters, with different titles) took almost four weeks from submittal to going live a few days ago. Be sure to hit submit (I'd apparently failed to do that on an edit on an older one and it was still showing as a draft several months later when I finally caught it) and then be patient.
