The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Original BC Powder -
Active Ingredients are Aspirin (856mg) and Caffeine (65mg)
Extra Strength BC Powder -
Active Ingredients are Acetaminophen (500mg), Aspirin (500mg) and Caffeine (65mg)

Goody's Powder -
Active Ingredients are Acetaminophen (325 mg), Aspirin (500mg) and Caffeine (65mg)

Both contain fillers and maybe artificial sweeteners, too.

Alka-Seltzer Plus -
Active Ingredients are:
Acetaminophen - NSAID
Dextromethorphan - cough supressant
Chlorpheniramine - antihistamine
Phenylephrine - nasal decongestant

Some formulations of Alka-Seltzer Plus may also contain: Aspirin, Guaifenesin (an expectorant), and Doxylamine succinate (an antihistamine and sedative)

If mixing the BC or Goody's Powder with Alka Seltzer Plus you are stacking Acetaminophen.

You would be better off with Alka-Seltzer Original or Alka-Seltzer Hangover Relief which don't have acetaminophen if mixing with either of the powders - just to avoid taking too much acetaminophen.
Waaaa….😮. Acetaminophen! Isn’t that BAD to take and drink? I’ve been avoiding Tylenol for years because of that…NOW you tell me. My only saving grace was I wasn’t doing this every time…just on nights I knew would turn into a bender.

Shoulda just taken some of the hair of the dog that bit me…

I did have one teensy tiny glass too much of wine last night. No hangover, but did oversleep. My 3 mile walk didn’t start out well, but ended up refreshing. Gotta check on all the family today…Uncle update, his lungs are clear, so back in his assisted living quarters.

Need to put a ballast in a light, need to wash all the vehicles, need to paint, need to do everything that’s been put on hold for all these med issues. Right now…my second cup of coffee. 😀

Ten day countdown HMMZ——

Practically worthless. Which is even better. Didn't have to pay to ship them!
Working on my own frankenmotor. The cheaper and more worthless the better...

I had a guy sell me a short block of an anvil 356 engine. Of course, being a L-head block, all that stuff was still there. He made like he was getting over selling it to me for $200. What he did not realise and does not know is that the 16 hydraulic lifters in that block are made out of Unobtainium. Guess who got the deal on that one? And the enjoyable part was getting that engine loaded on the trailer while three old fools watched me do it.

If it hadn’t weighed 800 lb, I would’ve picked it up and set it there by hand. Just despite them.

Old bastards

I've read to just put the bean pods in vodka and let it sit a bit. I haven't tried it yet. I have so much vanilla here now and my friends keep bringing me back some from Mexico!
It absolutely has to be more than that because mine tastes like dank vodka with zero vanilla notes and it's been "split the beans, put in vodka, seal and store in dark, cool spot" for 6 almost a full year now. I even tried adding more beans several months ago just in case.

I used a decent mid-grade vodka (not top shelf, not rot gut) and extract grade beans so... 🤷‍♀️ Sealed in mason jars and stored in a kitchen cabinet away from sink and stove (heat and water).

I'll try tasting again this weekend but don't have high hopes. Also, there's zero cost savings from purchasing already-made. So unless I really like the process, control, and cred for saying "Made by Likes"... I'm sticking w/ store bought.

But always real - never imitation. Really makes a difference w/ baking.

In a lot of cases, it is the gallbladder... but not all. I agree with @Noor about a pointed discussion and/or second opinion to make sure.

I did this a few years ago. Was having a really rough time with abdominal pain, nausea, gerd, and getting physically sick after eating certain foods.

Made the appointment for surgical consult, paid the co-pay, and discussed. The surgeon agreed with me - my symptoms did not match for a gallbladder problem. Surgeon said based on the scan and our discussion he would not be comfortable removing the gallbladder as he thought there was something else causing my issues.

In my case, I did some additional analysis with my doctor and found that I react to certain foods, but also my body can have negative reactions to the bio-chemical act of digestion itself. Because of course it does.

All of which was also found to have caused mild gastroparesis. So I've been resistant to going on any GLP-1 meds for this reason. I already have enough GI issues without medically inducing more or an advancement of what I already have going on tyvm.

I do have a sibling that had their gallbladder removed years ago. It resolved their issues. When they would have an attack, their pain would present as classic gallbladder. Their scan showed lots of stones... I don't recall about a blockage or not. But do remember their case being a "classic presentation for gallstone issues" and the gallbladder removal worked great for them. They did need to make a few dietary changes afterwards, but that's also standard for GB removal.

I hope you find an answer, but also the right answer for your issues @Missk_2022 🫂
Your symptoms sound similar to things that Mcas, and eds patients like me have.
That’s my fear with glp1s too, although some Mcas are going into remission microdosing them.

The prep is much worse than the procedure. One minute they're starting your IV, the next they're bugging you to wake up from that lovely sleep!

How was it for you today? 🫂
The prep is horrid! Took 2 tried to get an IV - but pretty standard. After the prep you're dehydrated and I'm a hard stick on a good day.

When they started the drugs they warned it would sting at the IV. It didn't... next I know it hit me in the head and that's the last I remember until they're wheeling me into recovery. Then I'm wide awake - like someone threw a switch. The head anesthetist doctor walked past my room and did a double-take when he saw I was sitting up drinking my juice and talking and clearly alert. :ROFLMAO:

Today is nausea day. Guessing it's being back on solid food and the drugs clearing my system. Debating taking that leftover Zofran issued for the prep. I'll see if my lunchtime nap helps any first.

Still - worth it. They removed a small polyp. I assumed that meant I had to come back in 1 year but they said 3... so that's a win. LOL (Have to find something redeeming about all of this, right? 😏 )

Meatloaf and mashed butternut squash for dinner... it was delicious....

I LOVE meatloaf
Ham was 79c a pound so I couldn't resist. I bought some of those smaller Honeynut squash. A light glaze of olive oil, salt, pepper and a few red pepper flakes baked 'em at 400. I wasn't ready for them when I saw I could easily fork them so I left them bake a little longer. They caramelized a bit and the skin was thinner. Sweet chewy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Totally different experience with them this year compared to last.
I love others meatloaf. So far mine, not so much.

I get those as texts X's [twitters] and as texts on Telegram. The pics the AI bot uses as the profile picture I ask them awful things. Their job offers or curiosity if my day is well or not is complete BS. And the phone calls if I want to sell my house. Ugh.
Awful things can be pretty awful. Back in the day when I was new to network administration I ran the networks, security, desktop creation and support the whole thing. It was before I could talk them into affording me a proxy to manage content. I would have an experienced tech visit to advise and otherwise provide experience I had not been exposed to at the time. In the computer labs students would leave their yahoo or aol chats open with mom. hahaha The things those boys did with their roommates or roommates mom's was awful.
Those AI chats now are easy to spot. They don't respond to the lewdness. So in the end it is as much a letdown as the contact in the first place.

I need to ask for Zofran next time. I barely tolerated the prep. I agree it’s an unpleasant prep and once IV starts, it’s lights out. I wake fine but can feel the effects of the drug until morning.

I hope your results were good and don’t have to repeat for a while. I have to it again in 2 years. ☹️

The prep tastes like slightly salty water. Best tasting prep in years. I don't tolerate citrus so didn't use the "lemonade flavoring" that comes with it.

The volume of liquid is hard on the body. Even in college a chug would end with one or two beers - not 4 liters (for just the prep).

It's the volume that hit me more than the taste. The Zofran def. helped with that.

I go back in 3 years - which is better than the 1 year I was expecting. Due to family history I'll never be on the 10-year plan. Best I can hope for is 5.

*pops in*
*enjoys a coffee*
Aww... I missed you again
Hope you're doing well
But nails at the ends of fingers are so much better
I agree. Drawbacks of Single Life
Oh, yum! Can you get the recipe?
Request submitted - will update if/when I get a reply
In our case, it's by the rivers. It's pleasant to have the river running along your back yard, but when the rains come, it will be in your living room! 😳😱
Right? It's just as lovely from a safe distance.
Which is not always a cliff. I recall a house not too far from ours needed to be lifted and pulled in several hundred feet or risk falling into Lake Michigan. IDK if it's still there all these decades later - I haven't been back to check.
Out West is all but at the top of a hill. There is a creek at the bottom of the back side. Noah's Flood would have to work hard to flood us out.
This is how you do it.
Up. Coffee. Only two nights here this week. Things are beginning to come together on the Dr. Tyler front. We're getting some ride options for her. She's still being resistant and a bit defiant, but a lot of that just means that she's still breathing. Should be an easier weasel day at the weasel palace. We'll see.
🫂
Last time I saw a huge fireworks display... no such fanfare tonight.
The ho-hum nights make you appreciate the nights with fireworks even more. ;)
Here's hoping that they can get you in before the end of the year.
🤞 I second this motion!!
I’m just imagining the weasel palace as a bar or weasels malcontents , misfits, weirdos, freaks and other castoffs from society all hang out.

Like in a good way.
I'm picturing that place from the Star Wars movies. You know the one...
Drinking a hot tea
It burnt my tongue👅
Downside to having a good travel mug - I have to wait almost 40 minutes before first sips or risk scalding my mouth something fierce.
We'll be getting underway soon, heading back to the rig.
I'm seeing a powernap in my future, if the boat is agreeable to it. 🤣
Do It! Take the nap!!
Glanced out the window and jumped in my seat! This was staring back at me!
Look at the size of it compared to the three tab roofing.

Immature bald eagle (talons and beak look right).
Until you've seen one up close - even at a zoo - you don't realize just how big they are!! Beautifully majestic 🦅

There's a lot more talk and info about Acetaminophen nowadays.
Lots of stuff we did growing up falls into the "and we're still here  " bucket.
although some Mcas are going into remission microdosing them.
 Tell me more of this microdosing - my DMs are open if you prefer.
That's why I deleted my original post. Realized it fell under MCAS and not "routine medical stuff". I'm finding the food and GI stuff with MCAS much more difficult to navigate than all the rest. 😩
I love others meatloaf. So far mine, not so much.
Universal Truth - food tastes better when someone else makes it.
Bonus - that can be further amplified if someone else also cleans up afterwards 😁
All of which is only part of the reason I tend to just snack from the produce section and skip cooking all together.

Okay - time to nap now
With the first appointment of the day I only got about 2-3 hours sleep last night.

Note to self: Afternoon probe is the way to go!
You have to take the full day off anyhow, so schedule later and do that 2nd half prep after you're awake for the day. You'll still attend the 3am Club (and maybe a couple more) from the 1st half prep anyhow. 📝
Glad it went well for you. I had my first one last year and was pretty worried from all the horror stories. I didn't have an issue with it. None of the stuff tasted bad like they said it did. It actually felt good to be clean one time. I don't think I had been before less a bout or two with food poisoning. And the procedure... I couldn't feel a thing. I was trying to apologize for them having to see my butt but that one knocked me out. When I woke up, I didn't think that nurse saw my butt so I was fine. I think next time I will bring my own chocolate chip cookies. I wasn't sleepy after. I had a cheese steak and fried okra after.
The upper GI, I did not think the 'nap' was as good and my throat was a little sore.

I'm glad yours went well for you.
Most of my issues are likely due to a dodgy immune system - so not your average experience.
The upper endoscopy I had a few years ago went better once they upped the meds a bit. IYKYK
I don't recall if my throat was sore from the scope or not and memory is too fuzzy to compare "naps". (all of which is a win in my book)

I should probably self-censor more with anything medical or physical. You know, given the whole:
I don't have any other patients like you.
None of my other patients have reacted this way.
I've never seen a reaction like yours before.

Hi all. Presentation 1 down 2 to go. Going to dinner in a little bit to have a big old ribeye maybe
I love a big ol' Ribeye or NY Strip. Been a while since I enjoyed one more than I cooked myself or by a family member at home.
However, I say go for it. And load the baked potato. My opinion is splurge for the vegetable of the day too. No sense is feeling some kind of guilt gorging on fat and carbs. When you select the over priced wine, choose a glass of the Cab or Pino Noir that is from Sonoma. I don't know where to tell you the good French wine is from, I usually can't or won't afford it. Anyway, add the veggie. That will justify the whole thing. Unless you are like those close to me who believe dinner out is not complete with a massive gob of ice cream or a slab of some kind of fudge like pie between layers of chocolate. Then you can try not eating for a week.
My version of not eating is a light bean salad for lunch and soup and salad for dinner. I have no bread in the house so, so far so good. 3 more days penance and I will eat for real again.

Next Wednesday the 29th, there will be an extra large pizza with pepperoni, sausage and onions. Carbs, grease, the whole shebang. I'll have seen Cardiowoman by then and whatever pounds have fallen off will have fallen. One or two will be coming back.

Work was okay. One of the residents has lost another marble or two. Two of the residents in the first building where my office is come to see me daily to kvetch that I'm leaving them. Hell, I wrote the schedule for the new place this afternoon. We'll be done before t-giving with the MEP part, praises to Allah.
