If you are having a lengthy delay in publishing, please add the name of your story and when submitted here.

Just throwing some data onto the pile: I had a story I submitted on September 2nd and it was approved on October 18th. I didn't resubmit or send any PMs.

I dunno. If it were just a one shot, then fine, but that submission was the beginning of a novella. I'm not sure if I can manage a multi chapter story like this, but I'm also not sure what else to do with it.

Hang in there and hope It gets better

That;s wild - thats almost 7 weeks

My first story after more than year is almost done, but I'm reluctant to submit it here after everything I've seen. The insane delays in publishing, the wonkiness of the website, no notifications for the followers...

I might just put it on SOL instead, even if there's considerably less audience there for a story of that type. 🫤

Why not put it both places? Even if you ignore it here in case it goes into pending.

Oh I'll put it here as well... once this crap gets finally resolved. When I publish it here, I want my followers to get the notification.

It's bad enough that our stories tend to get burried under the flood of 1k word scenes posing as stories. This website malfunction is just too much.

FWIW, I've been posting a 160k word story, but broken up into parts (not actually chapters but blocks of chapters) and it's been getting approved fairly rapidly. The first part took a few days but after that they've maintained 1 part per day. As of right now, the next 3 (out of 16 more) parts are already approved and set to be published on consecutive days. So maybe shorter sections get the green light faster than longer full stories? Just pure speculation though.

And if you do not mind sharin, what are the sizes of your blocks or parts?

How many words each? 19 parts over 160,000 = so under 9,000 each?

Still doesn’t make sense why some sit for a weeks and other post back to back to back.

Not storing the post but I have been posting here for just over theee years. Have published six poems and 129 stories. Rough average of three per month. I have never been delayed more than five or so days …. Until the beginning of this month. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Absolutely random. My part 5 got published within 26 or 27 hours after being submitted. Part 4 took 3 submissions.

I think it is a quirkiness of the site we need to learn to live with until we get some visibility from the site owners

I might have said it badly. There are actually 28 parts total. 1-11 are up now, parts 12, 13, and 14 are approved but not public yet. The portal shows future publication dates of tomorrow, the day after, etc. The rest are pending.

Parts 1-12 were short, only around 2,500-3,000 words. And then someone rightly pointed out it would take a trillion parts to finish. So the later parts I upped it - the latest 2 approved were 6,800 and 8,500 respectively. Some toward the end are over 9,000 words so time will tell if they still get approved in the same time frame

This is just my opinion, but I think stories that experience the submission date change glitch and get stuck in pending have been flagged for AI use or something else, and a bug in the system fails to send them back.

On a whim, I wrote a story a few days ago and submitted it with barely any edit done.

It was published in 2 days.

Yet, my more polished story have been stuck in pending for close to a month.

If they use AI then they should be REJECTED right? not just stuck in pending... And there should be info about that not leaving it pending for eternity.

Yeah, they should be rejected, but they’re not. It’s why I think there’s a bug in the system.

No one’s being blackballed, just stories being flagged for suspected AI.

I’m not even sure how they determine this as I don’t use AI in my story at all, but I’m convinced that’s what’s happening.

I’m pretty sure it’s the other way around.

The submission date change is likely a glitch - but it brings a change with it. The story gets assigned a URL, which probably means it’s passed its first review (whatever that is - maybe AI, maybe something else).

This is visible in the code on the Control Panel.

Okay, so let me ask. If it is (we will use the variable 'x'), so if it is X days in time to have a submission posted, given the facts & hypothesis everyone has provided, when do would you submit the next chapter?

In my case, I resubmitted, for the third time, chapter 15 on 10/19, when do I submit chapters 16 - 20, which will end the series?

Realizing that I fear submitting them all now, could cause one of the chapters being posted out of sequence given the glitches occurring. Also given the fact that I have another series prepared to start submitting and posting as soon as the V-Day authors event is completed.

Just curious on what you all would do.

At least one part of my story was rejected with other parts already pending. I fixed the rejected part and resubmitted it which gave it a new submission date much later than the subsequent parts but in the end, they were all published in the correct order

Hi,

Very interesting what you did. I found incorrect data in another JSON field. Did you notice this too? The field is called date_approve, but the story is still pending. In fact, I don't think this field refers to the approval date for publication, as other fields seems to indicate it's still pending. It might actually be the date I submitted it.

Or maybe, this field probably doesn't means anything at all and never did. But since there seems to be an obvious bug with the queues (judging by all the comments on the forum), it could be related.

The date_approve field is used, which can be seen in the Published part of CP. I guess what you're seeing is a placeholder in Pending (once a story moves to Published, the field will be updated).

Having said that, when I check my pending story, the date field/placeholder looks like this.

Your format: "01\/01\/1970", looks really weird, but someone more familiar with this would have to step in. (I'm using Safari's Web Inspector for reference.)

One of the major issues I see here, and one that Lit could rectify easily, is implementing a simple notification to authors who sumbit their stories.
Say, anytime a story gets automatically flagged for something, and thus needs to be verified by the admin before getting rejected or accepted, the author gets a notification about it.
That way, authors would know why their story is stuck and would know not to resubmit it because it would certainly get flagged again anyway.
On the other hand, those whose stories are stuck in pending for a long time but haven't gotten a "flagged" notification, would know that it might be due to the queue bug.

A simple solution that would help with this messy situation somewhat.

I wrote another story and submitted it yesterday. I did this while I have 3 stories pending over 3 weeks, and a 4th that isn't quite at 15 days yet, but only because I deleted and submitted it again on the 9th to see if that somehow pushed it through.

As I submitted the new story I felt so much less than the ones I've written/submitted before. I feel very defeated today as I keep reloading my Works - Stories page to see if it's gone from 8 to 9.

Anyway .. just venting here. I feel like every story I write is better than the ones before .. so of course the one yesterday is my best yet (might not be true of course .. but that's how I feel) .. so I want the world to see it.
