The future is dense, walkable cities.

If the trend continues, the future of most countries is a birth rate so dwindling that eventually there will be not enough workers to promote the GDP, and not enough taxpayers to fund government and any social programs.

For countries that allow rampant immigration from middle eastern countries, they will eventually be overwhelmed by muslims. Look at Dearborn, Michigan, for example, where the muslim birth rate, which far outweighs the overall birth rate of the state.

This won't happen tomorrow, and you won't be alive to see it, but if others, like whites, blacks, and yes - whites, don't start going back to the values of getting married and raising families, North America and all of Europe will be led by muslims in... maybe 80 to 100 years.

You want to leave that to the generations to come?

Google it yourself if you want to learn something.

Yea but then they have to live in a hive of self rightious leftist Karens, Shaniquas and their Soyjack simps who are totally incapable of minding their own fuckin' buisness under any circumstances...... entitled to everything, ashamed of nothing.

If you consider that an option, more power to ya!! I'll keep rolling the MACK.

Unlike you, I’m not terrified by the existence of Muslims, so your dimwitted fearmongering had no effect on me. 😆

By the way, your dopey comment was irrelevant to the topic of this thread. Good job. 👍

Yes, that’s the same guy. BotanyBoy has been banned from the forum multiple times, he gets embarrassed and then threatens people.
Where was there any threats???

Saying things that upset Karencrats isn't the same as making a threat.

A good new video about the “L” elevated train network in Chicago, and how it makes the city better. The video also documents how Chicago isn’t a crime-infested hellhole like Crooked Donnie fantasizes.

Millions of Americans love real urban places with urban amenities.

The average purchase price of a vehicle in the US is now over $50,000 for the first time. And used vehicle prices increased 6% over the last 12 months.

Residents of compact, walkable places with good transit and/or a network of protected bike lanes can avoid that major expense. Having options is a good thing.
In fairness that has more to do with the American obsession for giant SUVs/Trucks than anything else.

You can still get a nice sedan for under 25k and a luxury/sports trim for under 35k.

The sedan will be cheaper to keep on the road too, in terms of maintenance and fuel expense.

25 grand is still a lot of money compared to the cost of a bike, shoes and a transit pass.

As I said, designing places to give people options for how to get around is a good thing.

I'm not against transit. I use the transit system in my metro. It's a lament of mine I can't use it more due to schedule/route limitations.

What I am against is the people who are reflexively anti-car and seek to drive up the cost of ownership via highly regressive taxes/user fees/unfunded mandates which ultimately hurt poor people the most.

Edited to add: And since the topic is 'dense, walkable cities,' I might ask that folks allow for the fact not everyone wants to live that lifestyle. I was super into it in my 20s and 30s. Living in the urban core was great for the nightlife, sex life, etc.

In my 40s, it's no longer for me. I want a grass lawn I can earth on. I want to be able to grill in my backyard. I don't want wall neighbors who hear me having sex, or whose sex/music/tv I must listen to whether I want to or not.

You can have walkable suburbs. We do a pretty decent job of it where I live. It's not perfect, the grocery store is a bit of a hike (1.5 miles one way), but we make that walk when the weather is nice and more importantly have access to plenty of trails for exercise, dog walking, and access to restaurants/bars. The grocery store is my only real walkability complaint about my current address. I do wish it was a bit closer.

None of those things are real. You made them up and became upset about the things you made up.

Oh please. Have you ever lived in a blue state? Go look at the year over year increase to titling, registration, etc. fees, all of which far exceed the inflation rate, and are wildly regressive insofar as the cost to title/register a vehicle remains the same regardless of how little or much money you make.

My State (OR) just hiked registration fees from $43 to $85 (nearly 100% increase) and title fees from $77 to $216 (280% increase)

These increases are a mild annoyance to someone like me, a white collar professional clearing six digits, while being budget busting for the working poor.

That's the very definition of a regressive tax.

I think you know this, if you stop and parse what I'm saying instead of reflexively counterattacking me.

☝️ I wonder if the person you're quoting knows where most of her food comes from, lol, and the importance of roads in getting there...

The whole, "We got ours, fuck you if you want yours" attitude is pretty damned ugly. We're all Americans. Probably the greatest liberal President of all time was FDR and he made things like rural electrification and the Tennessee Valley Authority possible.

Keep scratching your heads trying to figure out why the working class and rural Americans fled the Democratic Party in droves.

80% of the population lives in 3% of the country, just like ants. Lol. :)
Speaking as a free rural living American they can stay there too. Every time a city dweller comes to live out here they cut down the forest, put up ugly McMansions, and whine about the 30 minute drive to Starbucks. Fucking idiots, you want the city then stay there.

Those taxes are regressive, but they’re a tiny fraction of the total cost of vehicle ownership and operation, and wouldn’t have any impact on anyone’s decision to own a vehicle or not.

Pretending that the little taxes are part of an “anti-car” plot is ridiculous.

Putting words in my mouth is more ridiculous. I never said or implied it was a "plot." I said it's a regressive tax that's budget busting for the working poor.

I'm just going to assume like most modern day Democrats you've never been working poor. If you had been, you might be able to appreciate the impact of fee hikes like these. You might also appreciate the absurdity of some of the other ideas our genius legislature had, like tolling our freeways (another wildly regressive tax) despite supermajority (over 75% in polling) public opposition.

To her credit, our Democratic Governor put the kibosh on that, but the sweeping point here is the Democratic Party was conquered by the monied professional class, for whom fees like these are a minor annoyance at best. I'm a member of that class, now, but I do remember what it was like to be working poor. It's no mystery to me why Democrats are getting their asses handed to them amongst that segment of the electorate. It's not for nothing that economic populists like Bernie and AOC are wildly popular while people tune out the folks actually running the damn party.
