RIP former Illinois Governor James Robert "Jim" Edgar, who served as the Land of Lincoln's 38th Governor from 14 January 1991 to 11 January 1999, passed away over the weekend from pancreatic cancer at the age of 79 in Springfield, Illinois.

Edgar previously served 10 years as the 35th Secretary of State of Illinois from 5 January 1981 to 14 January 1991 and also served in the Illinois House of Representatives from the 53rd District from 12 January 1977 to 8 March 1979.
