As well as the other bugs, published stories now not appearing on the author’s page of works

I’ve had people message me about this. A story is published and the HTML page is up. But it doesn’t appear on the author’s works page and doesn’t go into notifications for followers (I’ve checked this myself). So essentially the story is buried.

This seems to be beyond the known notifications bug. Anyone else getting it?

I have to say I’m kinda wary about publishing anything at present.

CLARIFICATION: I mean the public works page - so the equivalent of:

I don't know about notifications, but a story that's been published that day not appearing on the author's page right away is an issue I noticed long ago. It usually takes a day before it appears on the author's page as well. It's an issue, but not a new one. Can't say anything about notifications, though.

Definitely my situation today. My new story published, yet I've been informed none of my followers have seen a notification informing them of it, nor can they find it on my Works page.

So the only way anyone will find it at this point is by browsing the New Stories page, and I'm buried on page two.

So yes Id suggest to anyone considering submitting to hold off until these glitches are addressed.

I’ve always had my works page updated within minutes of the story being published. YMMV.

I can see my story on MY "My Stories" page.

But if I click on my own profile then Works, its not there. And its been confirmed by others they dont see it either, so basically no one can find my story unless they browse New Stories

It doesn't happen always, true. But I noticed the issue more than once when I'd click on a new story, but then wanted to check out the author's page. Sometimes the new story simply wouldn't appear there.

It's an issue of different pages updating at different time intervals, and yeah, sometimes it can get confusing. What I'm saying is that it isn't a new issue, for me at least.

I wouldn't be so frustrated about it not showing up in Works if they had at least sent the usual notification that all my readers would get, letting them know its published.

My story is getting some traffic, but its really just those scrolling through New Stories.

I'll give them 24 hours then may ask for it to be deleted and republished properly

have you tried changing your profile and adding a note to say you have a new story published, with a note to your followers explaining the problem? Some of them will open your changed profile and read the message Just a thought

I have. twice.

I'm not sure if anyone is seeing those updates or how many people ever actually check them though. But yes I've tried at least

I follow you and can confirm I've seen your Profile Updated notification.

Not that that helps much as I doubt many readers actually look at those

I have tried that, thank you

I appreciate you letting me know

100% - no point in submitting it and gettig it posted if nobody gets to see it

Submit and Feedback Form and Bug Report anyhow - don't know if they're being looked at but it's all we have to report these

This is an issue that I noticed when I first started reading here, say about 2-3 years ago. I started reading before I made an account. So longer than what my account says...

But anyways, yeah old issue that oftentimes a new story won't appear on the authors page for a day or two. Usually though it'll show up if you switch how it's being ordered. It'd be sad if it's gotten even worse though, especially since it seems like notifications still aren't working right.

it is still getting some views, and im loathe to delete it unless I have to. Im hoping for a late notification but...

I put in the report, we'll see what happens

Yikes. Clicked on one of my stories in my works list and got a 404 error. Hit refresh and it wnet away, not sure if that's a site error or just my connection being slow (it is a lot of the time)

The thing is, the number of site glitches has got to a point where anything that goes wrong is ascribed to them.

Well, I am not under any pressure to get anything submitted and live so I shall sit back, drink coffee and spectate.

My little Halloween effort isn't really a contendor for the big W so I'm totally disconnected from any concern over ratings, votes and the like. Altho comments on woodchippers are welcome. If the FBI ever look at my search history "what model woodchipper can you use to dispose of human remains" may strike someone as a little suspect.

We had the city leaf mulcher go by a few days ago one of those big trailer models that they feed tree branches into as well) and I actually went out and asked the guys if it could handle a body and they laughed and said bring it out LOL. It was a big commercial one, a bit big for my story.

It seems like the site is seriously malfunctioning.

I wonder if they need to update the servers.

Try doing an alphabetical sort on the stories rather than a sort by 'newest'. What you're talking about may be a different bug, but there is definitely a bug where the newest story doesn't appear under 'newest' for a couple of days on the public list.
As a simple example, compare these two screen shots (picking on @BeneathHerBraid because I read her new poem last night and it's so, so good...):

With the help of one of our writers (you know who you are and I thank you profusely), I confirmed that followers do receive updates. I updated telling them of my new story and since then, the number of votes and views has definitely ticked up, but probably not as much as if it hadn’t been buried by the programming flaw(s) in the first place.
