You thought this would be another stupid “woe is me” thread didn’t ya!!!? I wouldn’t give you the pleasure!!

Post your fave rock/grunge/post-grunge song here!

Shirley Manson - for a briefest of all moments, she was the hottest thing ever. I loved this song, the way she moved, and the immediate dark/dirty- girl vibes she brought to this song!

“Pour your misery down on me”

“I am the son and the heir
Of a shyness that is
Criminally Vulgar”

Fuck. Me.

The Smiths spawned a love for good lyrics and guitar work. Although not as great, Morrissey had at least one song that I can never stop thinking about!

“The more you ignore me
The closer I get
You’re wasting your time.”

This one by Joy Division would creep up in my life from time to time. I didn’t really follow them and every song I happened by had super poor audio quality. Think cassettes 😂

But then I heard this in college and the lyrics:

“When routine bites hard,
And ambitions are low.
And resentment rides high,
But emotions won't grow.
And we're changing our ways,
Taking different roads.

Do you cry out in your sleep?
All my failings exposed...
Gets a taste in my mouth
As desperation takes hold.
Why is it something so good
Just can't function no more?”

The simplicity of this video is brilliant. And so 80s.

Love will tear us apart. Again. And again.

Telegram Sam by Bauhaus.

Bauhaus is a band you had to study and appreciate. They were definitely not for the casual consumer but a lot of their songs and their videos have been the likely inspiration of other artists. Pretty cool shit for their time.

Sex and Candy. A song that reeks of misery and the depth of sadness - the knowledge that the one you love isn’t as exclusive as you’d like.
