What Stories Do you Plan to Write for the 2026 Events and Competitions

The only things I'm planning for is the fan-fic and music challenge.
For fan-fic - Night Duty on the Justice League Watchtower.
For music - a short story based on Jim Croce's Dreamin' Again.

A few days ago, I found that I have manuscripts started for 22 Lit stories in one account and that was so depressing that I didn't count the number in the other file or the number of very basic plots. Some of those are already intended for specific events, two or three will fit in some of the slots and some like the final installment in my "Hammered" trilogy will probably be submitted on its own whenever it's completed.

I seem to seldom plan for comps. Having something close to done for Winter Holidays this year is a striking exception.

For example, I wrote my mature / group novella, WhoreBNB when the muse took me. It would have been a perfect Summer Lovin’ story, but I didn’t have the patience to hold off publishing.

I write when ideas strike me. Sometimes I get lucky and that lines up with a comp. But often it doesn’t. If I do write for a comp, it’s mostly last minute and the result is kinda rushed.

I usually do it like that, but after putting together that list for 2026, I wanted to do stories for a few of them because I like the themes, but then when I looked at how many there were I thought I better pick, choose and plan in order to have a chance of gettng even some of them done. Fortunately I have 2 or 3 mostly done because they missed this years or last years deadlines and I also have some partially written stories I can pull up, modify and finish. And that gets them out of my own personal backlog at the same time which is a bonus. Also, I am going to work to keep a lot of them SHORT and not write any novels. LOL.

SHORT, CHloe. SHORT! Like, 10k max!!!!!!! I am really going to have to control myself. Pray for me. LOL

At this point I'm only committing to my own Fan Fic event. Probably "White Lady of the Sith". Or maybe if I'm feeling particularly adventurous I might try something with Hornblower.

Thanks! There's definitely a few that interest me. I've started following a few of the threads so I can keep up with them closer to the time. On the Job and Sex & Sports look like a lot of fun as well. I have a half written office fling story that I could revive for the former.
