and there's the rub: while global markets see the US as unreliable trade partners, it'll be very very hard to win contracts back—especially now they've been establishing new, long-term partners who will trade without drama and with consistency. The only real incentive for them to return to buying from the US would be if those new trade partners' crops/industries failed for whatever reason. Or perhaps if the US made it financially beneficial for them to do so, probably further harming US business production at the same time by making their competitors' products cheaper than home-grown. It's not just a case of US voters electing trump and his disastrous policies/crazy neck-straining changes of whim once... they repeated the mistake after inheriting a well-recovered economy after covid's ravages.
