Xi stroked out?

China literally went from buying American Soybeans to buying Argentinian Soybeans because Americans told them to fuck off.
One other thought can you or anyone distinguish Argentina's soybeans from American soybeans? No they can't be distinguished no one is asking where the commodity originated from. Once us soybeans enter the world market it anyone's guess where they go or come from.....

The soybean market is not international like oil.

South American markets are selling to China. North American markets are not

Here's where it gets interesting. We, the US, are in harvest season. Argentina is in Spring planting season. Gonna be a long wait for those beans.

Meanwhile the US is busily cutting deals with Vietnam, Thailand, etc. And, as Buffalogurl has pointed out, they will sell their 'excess' to China at a higher price. Gotta love Capitalism.

None of that is correct except for the Argentina planting season, shit for brains

^^^^^^^ great observation..........exactly
I'll add bet'cha the futures contract is higher during the southern hemispheres harvest seasons and the American beans will bring more money.... just speculation on my part and the Chinese with end up fucking the Argentineans and the Brazilians out of millions of dollars....

Oh, but all commodities are internationally traded.....
So how could the US trade excess to China directly at a higher price as was suggested?

China has stopped buying American soybeans.

Explain that as you need.

No the product will be traded through a third party....not directly from the US..... example....beans may be sold to a British firm then daisy chained to the Chinese.....once the "American" beans are sold to the British firm they become British beans and I guarantee to you the Chinese will buy beans......

Lol

So why are we bailing out farmers?

You know what happens when sales are funneled through third parties? The profit is diluted...everyone gets a cut

But keep smiling like the soybean farmers are fine

Maybe tell the President not to bail out those soybean farmers because you know better 👍

No bailout yet.

You have no idea how Capitalism works, do you?

What has he said on the topic?

China buys soybeans from Argentina to avoid tariffs.

Not a free market result...which might be what you mean by Capitalism.

Or no?

Wait ...are tariffs capitalism?
Jesus Christ but you're a dumb fuck.

How about we start with tariffs are NOT charged on exports. If China wants to apply tariffs to US soy beans, that's on them.

Argentina's Soy crop is in the ground now. Some farmers may want to risk plowing up other crops they've planted but they've already invested in the seed so I doubt that's going to happen.

Argentina and Brazil combined cannot make up for the Soy that China imports from the US and China needs those imports to feed their people, even worse they will have to increase their imports to stockpile against the sanctions that will be applied should they decide to invade Taiwan.

China will buy US grown Soy from the spot market and most likely at premium prices.

What position did China take on Soybeans and why?

What investment has China made in soybeans from Argentina?

They aren't importing any soybeans from the US.

Except they aren't.

Chinese importers have yet to book any US new-crop soyabeans and instead have purchased 95% of their needs from South America
While US soyabeans cost nearly $1 per bushel less than their Brazilian counterparts, tariffs add $2 per bushel to importers’ cost.

Brazil's exports are more than half the exports of soyabeans in the world. China has Trump by the balls and is starting to squeeze!

No, China does not have anyone by the balls.....
The Chinese won't "book" any American soybeans.... the Chinese will purchase the soybeans on contract at various commodities markets around the globe..... and those markets that sell the soybean contracts to China will purchase the needed commodity wherever the commodities are located be it America, or south America, this is all about optics 🤷‍♀️
Don't be silly. If that were the way it worked, that farmers in the USA would simply sell their soyabeans elsewhere, but then those would be sold on to China with the farmers getting the same price as they would have before, then President Trump wouldn't be worried about the Chinese restricting sales of rare earth elements!

President Trump has taken an axe to the system of international trade. Plenty of people will suffer (but not the penguins of Heard and McDonald Islands!), including American farmers.
