Jewish lad who I went to school with moved "back" to Israel 20 years ago. He can't stand Netanyahu. Said the government had plenty of support at the start to get the hostages back and take Hamas out. However, he states very clearly that the Israeli government could have turned Gaza to brick-dust and ashes in the first two weeks after October 7th with the firepower they've got, so don't confuse what Netanyahu's doing with genocide. There's a feeling that in his twisted way of thinking, he's vowed to get them a slow kicking every day until the hostages are released. Obviously there are political machinations, elections, blah blah blah at foot but my friend says that for Net to forget about the hostages would be an instant election loss, hence that's why he thinks in his mind kicking Gaza every day until they give up the hostages is the right thing. While my friend accepts it's a line of thought, he totally disagrees with him.
