Hi everyone - I was thinking perhaps we could self-organize the author-driven events for 2026 ahead of time and put together an overall calender for Laurel to make it easier for her - she has a lot on her plate so I thought it would be helpful to organize ourselves and put a high level calendar in front of Laurel and save her all the to and from over each individually organized event.

I've gone ahead and done this on my own initiative - Laurel didn't ask me to do this - but I've reached out to everyone who ran or is going to run events in 2025 as almost all of them have been recurring over the last few years +/- a few and received confirmation as to wherther they're continuing or being dropped. (There's a couple of replies outstanding so for now I've left them pencilled in to the schedule)

My idea was list all the Literotica Competitions (known dates and competitions are pretty much fixed) along with the recurring Author-Organized Events - and highlight any changes, as well as Available Date Windows for anyone who wants to organize a new Event.

Available Date Windows - looks to be about 2 windows now available for any new events without totally overloading the calendar
- End of June
- Mid-November

The Competitions and recurring events that have run annually for the last few years are all listed below - and I have highlighted Available Windows for new Events. If anyone has an event they would like to organize and run, reply below - we would need to run by Laurel and get her okay but if we do it all in one hit, it's going to be easier for Laurel and we'll all have a calendar for 2026 to write to well ahead of time

Thank you for doing this Chloe.

Two events I was hoping for next year (other than the Dark Fairy Tales that I already knew was not happening.)

Are we not doing the virtual convention. I think I could do it properly this year.

And I was kind of psyched for the music themed one that has been bandied about. I shout someone had volunteered to organize one.

Thanks for doing this and willing to help as we discussed 😊

Thanks for doing this!

One note, though:
FAN FIC Challenge 2026 [ OPEN ] - (this was Dark Fairy Tales ins 2025) - CONFIRMED FOR 2026

starts: Sept 1st
closes: Sept 25th

This is just an idea I'm toying with. I might do it, I might not. If anyone else wants to use this slot, as far as I'm concerned it's first come, first served.

Looks like there's some open slots, you can always organize one yourself.

Great job taking the lead on this, Chloe.

I've had a story in the works for a while for the Pink Orchid event that I really want to get submitted so I'm glad that event is still on the calendar. Same thing with the Valentine contest.

Great idea. Here's the list of open events that's pared down just to the submission deadlines:
  • Valentine's Day: February 6
  • 750 Word + Pink Orchid: February 28
  • April Fool's: March 24
  • On the Job: April 24
  • Virtual Literotica Conference: May 16
  • Geek Pride: May 24
  • Yay Team: June 9
  • Nude Day: July 4
  • Heroism: July 13
  • Tales from the Orient: July 30
  • AI: A New Era: August 31
  • Summer Lovin: September 5
  • Crime and Punishment: September 20
  • Fan Fic: September 25
  • Halloween: October 23
  • Winter Holidays: December 5
Some of those gaps are tight so better start writing early ;)

That March 17th slot is so tempting considering my birthday is the next day...

But short of "Dark romance" which is vague as fuck, I don't have any ideas for a challenge.

Question. What does the organizer do for the events exactly?
Start a thread announcing what the challenge would be and first see if there's a fair amount of interest. If so, set the dates and then the thread becomes a support thread for people interested to chat and kick around ideas. When the time gets close, in addition to making sure to bump the thread, PM the people who said they were interested and remind them

Yes - sorry - I missed the Virtual Convention and that was confirmed. I''ll edit the first post to include

I think the Crime and Punishment challenge makes the Mickey Spillane redundant, and support eliminating Mickey. Perhaps it would be cool to do a challenge honoring a different author each year instead.

Totally agree - I'd only ever intended Hammered as a one-off, and I wantt to use that slot for my Asian-themed event - updated the schedule to reflect.

Thats enugh events for me - Geek Day and Tales from the Orient.

We don't HAVE to use these slots unless someone really WANTS to run a new event - that's a really fill calendar so we're all going to have to pick and choose - and for anyone running one of these I'd really recommen reaching out to authors who aren't on the AH and asking them to particpate to build up the # of stories and contributors

Laurel must be terribly busy and I have not heard back from her about this, so for the time being, there are no plans for a music challenge. I will let everyone know if that changes.

Plunk the event name and concept in here - I planned to take all of this to Laurel in one hit - I have my own new event to replace Hammered that I want to get her okay on, I can include yours as well - that way all Laurell has too deal with is one message that includes everything. So dump it here and I'll include it in the first post.

I think Born to Run was only a one off so we can tenratievly put this in on or around the same date - or take the March 17th date that opened up when Randi advised she won't be doing one in 2026
