Favorite movie quotes

Robert De Niro, as Sam, has some great lines in Ronin (1998). This, with Sean Bean, would be my pick:

Spence: "You ever kill anybody?"
Sam: "I hurt somebody's feelings once."

The Whale

Ellie: In the amazing book Moby Dick by the author Herman Melville, the author recounts his story of being at sea. In the first part of his book, the author, calling himself Ishmael, is in a small sea-side town and he is sharing a bed with a man named Queequeg, and I felt saddest of all when I read the boring chapters that were only descriptions of whales, because I knew that the author was just trying to save us from his own sad story, just for a little while.

(To be truthful, that sums up Moby Dick perfectly)

Great movie, great book.👍

“I can smell your cunt.”
--Clarice Starling to Dr. Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs
That was one of the inmates who yelled that to her and Lechter asked what he'd said to see if she'd repeat it. When she did his reply was "I myself, cannot." But I'm not sure if that was the movie or the book.

I quoted the movie. Since I haven’t read the book, I don’t know if that line is in it 🤷🏻‍♀️

In my writing I rely a lot more on dialogue than narrative, my characters carry the story in words and deed

Because of my fondness for dialogue, great lines in movies really stand out to me. Usually ones that are snarky or funny because I use a lot of sarcasm in my stories, but a good line is a good line.

So what are some of your favorites and from what movie?
@lovecraft68,
"The Hunt for Red October"

Jonesy: I was just in the process of teaching sea-man Beaumont here the intricacies of modern sonar...
Cobb: Yeah, and I ain't Chief of the boat, I'm Sheena Queen of the Jungle...
Jonesy: Okay Cobb, go ahead, tell the story...
Cobb: Y'see, Jonesy thinks this boat is actually his own private stereo so there we were one day, he's just happy as a clam, got his music out in the water when a whole slew of pups...
Jonesy: Including one way the hell out at pearl!
Cobb: ...Including one way the hell out at pearl hear Pav-a-roti comin' out their asses...

Got dozens and dozens really but that's gotta be "The One".
Respectfully,
D.
