Which scenario is most likely to unite the country?

I watched All The President's Men recently (RIP Robert Redford) and Civil War too. Neither of them seem particularly likely outcomes for America's current political division. So I got to thinking about the actual historical precedents...

...with them in mind, and looking ahead a few years to the transfer of power in America, which situation do you think would be more likely to unite the country after Trump is done?

- the Syrian option: flees to Russia, abandoning minor officials to their fate.
- the Portuguese option: falls in the bath, goes into coma and is relieved of all power, on regaining consciousness flunkies maintain elaborate facade for him that he is still President.
- the Brazilian option: ankle bracelet then 27 years in prison.
- the Italian option: body dumped in the town square, strung up over a gas station to prevent more grannies from pissing on corpse.
- the Libyan option: caught hiding in a drain pipe, kicked to death on the spot.
- the French option (original version): caught fleeing, encourages foreign army to invade, buried in an unmarked grave with severed head between feet.
- the French option (updated version): 5 years in prison, no appeal.
- or of course the classic - the German option: suicide while holed up in a bunker, body burnt immediately to avoid Italian option.

Some of you may blanch at the violence of several of these options and I share that reaction. I'd like to stress that I really, really think its best to avoid any violence for the sake of the country. I only include them because I wanted to be honest and include the full range of real-life outcomes for these charismatic, strongman leaders.

Personally, I suspect the 'Syrian option' is probably the best way for the country to come together after he is gone. I also think it's by far the most likely scenario. What about you?

Would be great for the country to avoid the mess of judicial wrangling too.

America will be just fine. Obama will probably get a pardon for committing treason. :)

What's best for America is to sweep the country of all of its leftwing radicals and their mentally disturbed constituency of assorted weirdos.

Or, you know, you could just accept that he's your President for the next 3 years.
Yes, the question assumes he serves his full term as elected. This isn't about whether you 'accept' leaders like him or not.

I'm talking about how they have historically left office and which would be the best option for America on the whole and specifically the unity of its citizens.

The best option for America as a whole, if you cannot accept that Trump is your duly elected President, would be for you and your like minded friends to go fuck yourselves. Sideways.

I believe that's pretty much what Mussolini said before his face was obliterated to mush by the kicks of his countrymen.

I'm not saying that's the correct thing to do. I'm just saying that's what actually happens in the real world to that type of leader.

Listen, if you're American and it freaks you out to contemplate Trump's future, you can always do the same hypothetical for similar leaders - Putin, Muhammed bin Salman, Lukashenko, there's plenty to pick from.

What is it about the Left, their asshole adherents, and their penchant for violence?

Trump was elected and is President. You can either accept that or you can't. If YOU can't, then that's a YOU PROBLEM and not a WE THE PEOPLE problem.

Thus, you can take your fantasies of violence and shove them into whichever available orifice you have empty at the moment.

Next three? We know he has no respect for the Constitution and I have no faith Republicans would offer more than the bare minimum lip service to holding him to only two terms. I'm 100% confident the court would side with him 6-3 possibly 7-2.

^yet another leftist asshole who needs to take their fantasies and stick them somewhere painful.

This member has not indicated a leaning towards left or right. He’s not even indicated if he’s living in the United States. You ascribing violence to the left because of his question just shows how you are an asshole and can’t fully understand the question he posed. Why don’t you try again? Or just say that any kind of violence is frowned on by righteous, patriotic Americans. J6 and magats excluded.

The only option is an independent ! To many think there party has all the answers. So both sides never compromise. There’s plenty both sides agree on , but there party’s won’t allow the other side to get a win ! This country is in deep trouble and the problem is YOU🫵

Or… Or…
Hear me out because this might sound like a radical option but…
How about just voting for your own self in the next presidential election - that will show them! 🙄

You fucking idiot you! You don’t get to complain about anything. You just sit there and take it up the ass from whoever the rest of us voted for, ok? POS.

List his violations of the Constitution.

Perhaps if the leader of the country would refrain from the rhetoric, facist comments and tried to actually create an environment of friendship , etc, etc……then just maybe that would be one hell of a start………however I think my chances of winning a lottery are likely higher and THAT is a huge shame.

Re-posting this just to emphasize: I’m asking about how the country comes back together after a leader like Trump leaves the stage - and how the way he steps aside makes a difference. Based on what actually happens to politicians like him.

I’m not in the least bit interested in whether he’s good or bad or whatever. Or whether you agree or not with the way he goes.

He’s the president. One day he won’t be. Those are facts we can all agree on.

I’m asking us to imagine what it looks like after this.

lol pos is what all you who follow the crowd🤣like 🐑

And replies like that are exactly why the country is so fucked up …..but you have a nice day

The COUNTRY is just fine. The part that's fucked up is where you think you can roll in here, post meaningless troll bites, and get the reach around you want so desperately.

MY day was just fine. Until YOU showed up.

In response to the question you actually asked: nothing happens to him. He isn't convicted or killed or anything of the sort. He's continued to be viewed as 'the best president ever' by half the country and 'a stain on our history' by the other half.
He'll retire and get his presidential benefits and then the parties will go right back to fighting again and the common man will continue to get screwed.
There isn't going to be some sort of mob retribution on the man. He has too many adherents with too h money to let that happen.

Sorry.

Well obviously that’s the best option - other than the ‘common man getting screwed’ bit - but history shows us that one side tried to override the election results while the other side tried to put him in prison. Both failed. But those were both first attempts…

…the next time, both sides are likely to be far more serious about achieving their objective.

Which suggests that the calm and peaceful transfer of power that you suggest is highly unlikely.

Which leads us to the other options.

I left out the Milosevic and Duterte options because I can’t see America ever sending a former president to The Hague to be tried at the ICC.
